I say impose taxes on them like regular citizens do. Separation of Church and State? How come the church leaders are very influential on the directions of the Government? ... Too noisy and the give careless remarks. Too think they should be the ones who should pacifiy ... instead their the ones condeming.

Please enlighten me with this one.... Thanks!

    - to guarantee the separation of church and state... eliminating the exemption would “tend to expand the involvement of the government” in church affairs... retaining it “tends to compliment and reinforce the desired separation insulating each from the other...”

That should not be made a reason for not taxing the church. Can you honestly say the church, say Cardinal Vidal , is not openly meddling in the affairs of the government? After the exposure of Pagcor's donations- he came out with a lot statements almost on a daily basis about a lot of issues not at all church -related. Maybe to avoid the request for transparency and accounting on the donations which up to now is nowhere in sight.
I , for one- would love to see where the Pagcor money went.* Is there any hope at all for an accounting? Maybe this should start another thread on whether anyone would want to know where the money was spent.* For the poor?* For the priests?* Or whose pocket it went into.
What about his known favorite person in the form of Erap ?* He even offered to be his guardian if ever erap will be under house arrest. That and a whole lot of other issues he is dipping his finger into- specially if there are labor unrest- you bet he's there. Separation of church and state ?* Aw- c'mon.
And what about the others like the running priest and company?* Are they also practicing the separation of state and church issue? I also think the gov't should not in any way donate to just the Catholic church.* In fairness to all the others,* they should also contribute to the INK, Muslims, Protestants, even Atheists, etc. so it will be fair to all concerned.* By favoring ONLY the Catholics- one cannot help but think of some hidden agenda and secret negotiations going on since the recipients are now beholden to the donor.*
    Happy Holidays everyone !
