before buying any of these plug-in usb wireless modems from smartbro or globe visibility, test the availability of 3G/HSDPA signal in your area first, you can try with anu 3G phone, if wala gani, for sure hinay dyud na kay GPRS/Edge raman imo connection, so dont even bother getting one of these modems sayang lang imu gibayran tabla ra dial-up imo speed.

usb modem doesnt need a power supply. just plug it in your usb port.
cellphone needs a power supply/battery. so, if mo drain ang phone battery wala na kay signal/internet.
usb modem draws its power from your PC or laptop. so, if mo drain imo laptop....? hehehe

the main consideration why you should get a USB modem is MOBILITY(you bring the internet with you wherever there is a cellphone signal) and CONVENIENCE(no cables, no wires, no chargers, no adapters...just plug it in and your good to go) at slow to Moderate speeds.

If you want higher speed then get a permanent connection like DSL, cable, wifi, etc.
