PLDT used to provide Speedstream DSL modems before...either you were one of the early clients for PLDT DSL or old stock na DSL modem imo nakuha when you signed up, you can even ask for a replacement as long as the reasons is about internet connection is constantly disconnecting...hehehehe
Pls correct if im wrong, so naa pa i click sa desktop nimo before ka-connect sa internet? This means that you have PPPoE settings or UN/PW connection (PLDT provided you a username or password for internet), If you dont want to keep on clicking this icon to connect to the internet you may configure your modem to connect to the internet automatically, using the PPP or PPPoE settings..
Based on experience, most of speedstream modems are modem routers, even if it only has 1 ethernet port, so when you connect your pc to your modem the IP address that you get is 192.x.x.x
Some people would like to use a router so that they can take advantage of their internet connection, but sometimes connecting your router directly to your speedstream modem will not work.
So, Inorder to get a public IP address from your speedstream modem, you set it to bridgemode - disabling the DCHP capabilty of the speedstream, therefore, when you connect your PC to your modem you should get a Public IP of 68.x.x.x (PLDT).
Hope info helps.
