Yeah, did you read how prof richard flynn came up with his study? A lot of critics say his study is controversial. in the nations with IQ means of 100 (average IQ), there is no correlation between atheism and IQ... he just made his conclusion by looking at the nations with lowest IQ means whose atheistic belief is also low. But interestingly, these nations are poverty ridden. Norris and Inglehart has provided data that may prove Marx's and Freud's statements that say that belief in God served to comfort humans in the face of earthly pain, suffering, and death... As a math major who currently taking my 6th course on statistics (this time nonparametric statistical analysis), I cannot just accept any published survey as truth.
Even if this study will be proven in time, we are still stuck with means. Which means, that there could be extremes in each case. There could be atheists with really high IQs, and those that are pretty much dumb.
So, not all atheists are more intelligent than all believers. Do not hide under some controversial statistical study which is not yet widely accepted.
