I don't take sides with atheists or non-believers or christians or non-christians but the same reasons why people quarrel because tanan gusto hawud. Walay "give and take" diri sa spirituality & occult section - instead, some look for fun and fun sometimes is too much and some wouldn't notice that the "fun" they are doing are downright sarcastic and discriminatory. We know that atheists are too sensitive when it comes to these things... I know this because my girl friend is one. When we know a person that is an atheist, we raise the eyebrows... I was like this and I am too stupid not to realize that...

We know there are some that are vocal even if you don't ask them but ask yourself this, why is the person act like this in the first place? We christians are plenty in numbers and there are few of them! If you want to wage war against them... start picking on the Chinese because they don't believe in our God. I hope you all understand that when you start to open an argument that leads to personal insults... tama lang sad nga defensive sila... parehas ra na gud nato.

nobody's "waging war" against atheists here ma'am. i think you're missing a lot. i don't care if some people are atheists, I mean I'd even prefer my friends to be atheists than religious fanatics. what i care about is people's logic. and i think the rest of those "war wagers" here care about the same thing.

we think it's illogical for someone to dismiss the existence of a supreme being just because of poverty, or perhaps evil, or because of a bad experience. I too have experienced praying and praying and not getting my wish granted. it's quite bad actually. sometimes you just learn not to depend. and that's what I learned, I didn't depend my whole life on "God's wish" or whatever.

Poverty and the ugly side of life can't really be proof of an nonexistence of a supreme being. Because first of all, a supreme being doesn't even have to be Catholic. So if a person is just disappointed in the Catholic church, he/she can continue his/her spiritual growth outside the church. You don't need to be religious to be in touch with the creator.

If you are really atheist, you would not be bitter about God not being there for you or for people you care. You never know, what if god's just there sitting and laughing at you because he's evil. But that doesn't mean he doesn't exist. He actually does and he's just evil. That's one possibility, right?

Don't you get our point? How can you be bitter about something that doesn't exist? How can one be disappointed in an imaginary friend? If I know that santa claus is not real, I wouldn't be disappointed if I didn't get any gifts on Christmas day.

But there are people sis, who say that they are atheist, they try so hard to shove proofs of god's nonexistence, they ridicule the church and the believers at the same time tell stories of disappointment in God, bitter atheists, i would say.

if you're atheist, you're atheist. ok? we get it. stop whining about how god isn't there etc. and to lady blackrose, humanity should thank you for your charitable deeds.

when i was 9....i remember one of my cousins reallhy do believe in god...she believes in santa claus so every christmas she always hang a sock in our christmas tree hoping santa claus is gonna come and grant her wish for that christmas. she prays and prays and since she knows i dont believe in santa claus..she used to say this to me... "tan-awa niya..magka barbie doll jud ko karon pasko.tagaan ko santa claus."she prays and prays every night untill christmas pass... looking at her face back then showed frustration...i know santa dont really exist and i dont want her to bring her down. id rather see her continue believing if she is happy to what she believes in then im happy with it...u may consider this toleration but i dont care.so what i did is..i asked my dad to buy the barbie doll she likes in the mall.at 12 midnight when everyone was in bed...i put it in her sock and exactly new years when she woke up and i was still in bed she jumped in my bed..shoving her fav.barbie doll in my face as she said "i told u...santa loves me and he was here last night."those words of her made me smile though.i cant be santa coz i dont believe in one but what matters is that i made her christmas perfect.

It takes a certain level of maturity and intellect to understand why you shouldn't take the bible literally.

Ergo, any observation made of people in heated argument about such matters and end up with a scenario that showcases verbal attacks against a person rather than against an idea, can only mean that one of the parties involved in such deliberation MUST be immature or is ill equipped with the tools necessary for intellectual discussion.

I think we are sidetracked here guys, most posts are out of topic.. The thread is entitled "Are you an Atheist? Share your story" right? shouldn't this thread talk about how they became an atheist? I may be wrong but, we are now talking about atheist and theist beliefs (defending each others side, sometimes attacks personally). I suggest we stick with the thread's theme.. We can discuss Atheist and theist beliefs somewhere else. We have this two threads available.. "Atheism", "Atheism vs Religion". So what you think guys?
