It's interesting to note that the indie cinema scene in mindanao is just as good as ours. I've seen some good short films on youtube done by mindanao-based artists. And the commercial environment there supports the artists big time, unlike sometimes here, when a good indie picture as Jay only gets screened for 2 and a half days. Which makes us force to do alternative video viewing, like this: youtube.com/posporomaker

SineBuano holds its regular Sunday meeting last June 7, 2009 to hold a private members-only screening of its two latest projects, Ryan Zarra’s “DONG” and Eleanor Valeros “Shy”.

There is nothing more satisfying than viewing the fruits of one’s work except perhaps sharing that satisfaction with others.

Director of DONG, Ryan Zarra wanted to grab a capsule of Cebuano living through cinema, without the overbearing focus on despair and the environment of life here.

Ryan Zarra wanted to show in his film the outlook of local residents in Cebu who are far from melancholic about their personal lives, despite having their fair share of problems, people (Filipinos/Cebuanos) are happy and content with where they are in life and take everything with a smile.
