bisag asa!!!! .....for the love of music.............
btw2x... d ta dpat mahimong musical snobs... u cant really compare them coz there on a different genre, murag mugawas nga unfair, i think....
ang importante mubagay ang tukar sa given time and event, pyts nana cya!!!
hmmm when you say rock band you mean metal?
Me i prefer to write my own songs but i don;t wanna be in a metal band (although i love metal). straight rock lang gud. broad naman gud nang term nga rock ron ky it even include Fleet Foxes and Mofro, two bands with nothing in common musicall other than both are originals and artistic and have edge!.
i wanna be in a band that plays music nga masabtan ang lyrics and that people would actually come and listen to what im about to say while jamming at the same time. Most man gud gig diri ako naatan-awan people are just there to drink and headbang without paying much attention to the heart and soul of the songwriter and the way the vocalist made the song alive.
The Thread Title should say:
COVER BANDS vs BANDS WHO PAYS ORIGINAL MUSIC
There are showbands out there who covers rock music man gud.
Why pamper life's complexities when the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat?
^^^^ if mao ni ang topic, i'd select both jud...
nindot jud kahibaw mu-cover and make orig songs![]()
yah nindot ang musician if mo sepra jud verbatim cause its one of the factors that could make him grow pero i don't think if unsa imo gi sepra verbatim mao pod imo iplay live.
I always believe that bands practicing verbatim as the original song is just a sort of exercise para mamaayo jud ang musicianship. Professional people like Chris Thile and david gilmour do this.
but when it comes to performing on stage, it's always good to play original songs and if you choose to cover, then have your own signature on it. dili kay sundugon jud pati ang accent sa original.
didto ko baseline ganina namarog jud ako balhibo there's this band who played Maria Maria by Santana and the band is really trying to copy the original. And in so doing, they ruined the song. They could have made it their own and if they can't do it any better, then they should leave it out of their catalog.
I always wanted to cover The Fox by Nickel Creek but everytime i tried my own arrangement, i ended up ruining it so i just played the way Nickel Creek plays it. But i never perform it live with the band because we know we're not even that good enough to ruin a beautiful song from a highly respected band as Nickel Creek (sir Chris Thile in particular).
I like what the band Still is doing. They cover songs yet they put their own signature to it so even i they're singing You and Me by Lifehouse, it would still have that Still signature without ruining the song.
By having your own signature sound it doesn't have to be a rearranged song. It could be the same arrangements as the original but you should retain your own style of singing and playing without really ruining the whole song.![]()
