I remember too that the movie wasn't hyped too much, unlike the movies now are having. Except for the fact that mejo significant ang subject on Titanic when it was released but the turn-out was just so overwhelming. There were a lot of factors why it became a gigantic success that is yet to be toppled. Some of these factors are:

*The OST...The haunting melody of My Heart will Go on and the Video that came with it (Mid to late
90's, MTV was ruling it over and internet wasn't that much of something yet.)
*The mystery of the real-life tragedy
*The love story of Jack and Rose (making them one of the most unforgettable fictional couple and
    characters)
*This was the time when Leo was crossing over from just a major hollywood and pop heartthrob to a
serious bankable actor. (Although a lot of his movies before this already proved he can really act.)
*This is a James Cameron movie....This doesn't happen all the time....
    *The glossy trailer.
    *Kate Winslet was a revelation
*People during this time actually go and can still afford to go to theaters to watch movie and not just wait for it to be downloaded.
*It had become a word-of-mouth case for Titanic. Week after week after week...people were still talking
about it (positively or bashing it), fueling others to watch and watch again.
*Special mention: Piracy wasn't that worse yet.
    *and a lot more....

There are still people who find Titanic and its critical and commercial success a bit cheesy but that fact remains that no other single installment or movie series have threatened its place in the film industry history. Admit it guys, sometimes we love to make fun of Titanic and most of its unforgettable scenes. That's what I call, guilty pleasure....hehehehe

very nice movie bisan karaan na...
    history jud kaayo...
ala naka lupig ang The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
para sad nko titanic moy number 1..
Imagine lang!!! Kung nag dungan kaha ni og salida sa year 1997 onsa kaha labas aning Titanic sah syempre well known na dyud ang Lord of the Rings since ang Return of the King kay part III na ni sya. people wud probably choose this third installment. the year 1997 is different from the year 2003 - the pirated world how it evolved that much.... two great movies but the Return of the King s both was both appropriate and admirable. The Lords of the Rings. An absolute phenomenon. Much more than just movies.

Titanic still no.1 in box office...no doubt in numbers!
