TNS Mega Manila TV Ratings (Feb. 1-7): Kapuso shows lead Top 20 programs



Kapuso shows lead the overall Top 20 television programs in Mega Manila during the first week of February, based on the survey conducted by Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS) Media research.

Mega Manilas scope, which has 600 home panels, is 50% of the Total Philippines, which has 1, 200 panels. This data plays crucial in the advertising game as well, since most clients believe that the urban dwellers have more purchasing power that those from suburbs and rural areas.


According to the documents released during the press briefing prepared by TNS yesterday, February 11, 60 percent of the top 20 programs in the morning until afternoon are Kapuso shows.

The first three spots belonged to Richard Gomez's game show Family Feud, the longest-running noontime show Eat...Bulaga!, and Sine Novela Presents Saan Darating ang Umaga?
This was followed by Willie Revillames noontime variety show Wowowee and the SexBomb daily teledrama Daisy Siete.

Completing the Top 10 morning/afternoon shows, in respective order, are Kapusos breaking news GMA Flash Report, ABS-CBNs noontime game show Pilipinas, Game KNB?, the GMA-7 KoreanovelaBe Strong Geum Soon, ABS-CBNs comedy series Parekoy, and Mexican telenovela Rosalinda.

Love at the Corner, Wanted Perfect Family, Mischievious Princess, Slamdunk, La Traicion (The Betrayal), Mr. Bean Live!, Bleach, Class of the Titans, and SiS.

The trend in the morning slot indicates that viewers prefer fast-paced shows in the said slot.

Meanwhile, on the primetime block, GMA-7s Telebabad shows such as una Mystika, Carlo J. Caparas's Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang and Gagambino, and the recently concluded Lalola took the first four spots; while the networks early evening new program 24 Oras joined them on the fifth place.

The results suggest that loyalty rate is high among Mega Manila viewers, and most of them and are not channel switchers. Following these shows were three of ABS-CBN&s Primetime Bida shows I Love Betty La Fea, May Bukas Pa, and Tayong Dalawa and its early evening news program TV Patrol World.

The GMA-7 Koreanovela Money War, which will end this Friday, February 13, landed the 10 spot in the Top 20 primetime programs.

Other programs which also earned a spot are Family Feud, Eva Fonda, Pinoy Fear Factor, Ripleys Believe or Not, Bubble Gang, Kapamilya: Deal or No Deal, Full Force Nature, Obra Presents: Sunshine Dizon,and Friday Sine Special.

Note that Family Feud is the only show which went head to head with both afternoon and evening shows

Aside from the weekday shows, TNS survey results also revealed that GMA-7 shows also dominate the weekend Top 20 television shows. Only one Kapamilya program made it to the Top 10 shows.

The longest-running drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya, which is shown every Saturday, joined the nine Kapuso shows in the first 10 positions by placing on the 7 spot. The GMA-7 shows that made it to the Top 10, based on actual ranking, are: Kapuso Mo Jessica, Bitoys Funniest Videos, Family Feud Celebrity Edition, Imbestigador, Eat... Bulaga!, Kakasa Ka Ba Sa Grade 5?, Mel & Joey, Pinoy Records, and All Star K!


The second half of the weekend survey was comprised mostly of Kapamilya shows: Rated K: Handa Na Ba Kayo?, The Singing Bee, Wowowee, Cinema FPJ: Da King on ABS-CBN, Komiks Presents: Mars Ravelos Flash Bomb, Sharon, Komiks Presents: Mars Ravelos Dragonna, and Sundays Best.


GMA-7s Kaps Amazing Stories (Saturday) and Wish Ko Lang(Saturday) placed 11th and 16th in the list, respectively.

Based on the document obtained by PEP, TNS research also showed that most of the surveyed people in Metro Manila, including Central Luzon, are predominantly Kapuso viewers.

GMA-7 has 38.8 percent of the household share in Metro Manila, while ABS-CBN has 36.4 percent. In Central Luzon, the Kapuso network has 49.9 household share, while the Kapamilya network has 33.8 percent.

John "Sweet" Lapus to file libel case against two showbiz reporters

Sa gitna ng paghahanda ni John "Sweet" Lapus para sa kanyang Valentine show titled Sweet Valentine sa mismong Araw ng mga Puso, February 14, sa Techno Wave Bar ng Il Terrazo Building sa Tomas Morato Street, Quezon City ay may mas matindi pa siyang pinagkakaabalahan nitong mga nakaraang linggo.

Matagal na ngang nabanggit sa PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) ng film and TV comedian at host ng Showbiz Central na may mahalaga siyang ia-announce at isang seryosong bagay ito. Aayusin lang daw niya muna ang mga kailangan bago niya isiwalat ito. Tiyak daw kasi na marami ang magre-react sa kanyang gagawin at kailangang paghandaan niya ito.


Nitong nakaraang Miyerkules, February 11 ay sinabi na nga ni Sweet na may kakasuhan siyang dalawang showbiz reporters dahil sa mga hindi magagandang sinusulat ng mga ito tungkol sa kanya.
Ilang beses na raw kasing nakakarating kay Sweet ang mga paninira na ginagawa ng dalawang showbiz reporters na ito at ilang beses din niyang dinedma na lang ito sa pag-aakalang titigil ang mga ito kapag wala siyang ginawang reaction.

"Hindi ako nag-react sa mga unang nilabas nila na kung anu-ano tungkol sa akin. Hindi bale sana kung constructive criticism at matatanggap ko iyon. Pero paninirang puri ang ginagawa nila. As in, nag-iimbento na sila ng kung anu-ano laban sa akin.

"Pero cool pa rin ako. May mga kinausap ako na mga kaibigan ko at sila pa ang nagsabi na dedmahin ko na lang. Kapag pinatulan ko pa baka mas humaba pa. Kaya ako, sige, dedma para walang gulo.
"Ang nakakalokah, e, hindi sila tumitigil. Tahimik na nga ako pero patuloy pa rin sila. So, it means na talagang nananadya. May intension talaga sila na siraan ako. Kumbaga, pinaplano talaga nila ito at target nila ako.
"E, tao lang naman tayo, di ba? Hindi ako santo at lalong hindi ako manhid. Hindi na maganda itong ginagawa nila kaya I have to do something. Hindi sila titigil hanggang nagpapakadedma ako.

"Kaya I have decided na lumaban na. Hindi bale sana kung ako lang ang apektado, e, pati ang pamilya ko worried na rin para sa akin.
"I have consulted people na may alam sa ganitong mga eksena. Agree naman sila sa gusto kong mangyari. Pati mga kaibigan ko, they will support me sa papasukin kong ito.

"Ginagawa ko ito para ipagtanggol ko ang sarili ko, pati na ang mga taong mahal ko. Ayokong umabot ito sa point na maaapektuhan ang trabaho ko. Kaya this is it!" mahabang salaysay ni Sweet.
Kaya pinadalhan kami ni Sweet (via text message) ng kanyang official statement tungkol sa gagawin niyang ito:
"My lawyer and I are now on the process of getting more evidence para mas malakas ang libel case against these two reporters. We already have two articles from each of them that are very libelous, not to mention ridiculous.
"As much as I do not want to do this because hindi ko naman sila kachika at wala akong atraso sa kanila, I have to so they would know that you dont just write something bad about a person dahil gusto mo or may kinakampihan ka.
"A few so-called journalist; now, has just no ethics at all. Its so sad. My lawyer advised me not to mention their names because we are still talking with their respective editors. I will have an update as soon as we file the case. Thank you."
