    2x 8x PCIE 2.0. No thanks. I'd rather get a single 16x pcie or dual 16x

Sure buy a more expensive mobo then~ it all depends on the buyer, some people find dual 8x vs dual 16x resulting in very little difference, its like comparing ddr2 vs ddr3 even thou there's a difference people still tend to stay on ddr2, same thing with Dual 8x vs Dual 16x. Because of the prices.

No difference at all on older games. but all of the benchmark the x48 comes on top of the P45. So to add it all up it has significant improvement. Not much of a difference on 1024x768 resolution though.

Performance Summary And Conclusion - Review Tom's Hardware : PCI Express & CrossFire: Scaling Explored

X48 prices have dropped as well due to newer mobos.

X48 of course will top P45, the problem is X48's are still expensive in the Philippines, a dealer myself looking at the prices between P45 to X48 can go from 3-5k in price difference. Then again why stop there? why not just get an X58 Motherboard and pay additional 2-3k again since we all know X58's will perform better then the X48 and P45 & you can go for Intel 7.

Since you know there is Slight Significance in lower resolutions why do you think people want to buy P45's ? because they are CHEAPER & not really worried about Dual X8 vs Dual X16. Although there are P45's with Dual X16 but more expensive then the Dual X8

    The question is..

Would you buy an expensive X48 Dual 16x Mobo or go for a cheaper Dual P45 8x/16x Mobo.

Based on my own understanding, opinion and research.. dual 16x's will only benefit you IF you can meet the following conditions, a 30" LCD for 2560x1920 + 2 of the latest dual GPU cards like 2x 4870X2 or a 2x GTX295..

Unless your getting 2x 4870X2's there wont be any gains in getting a X48 chipset, who in his right mind would CF a 4870 ( on a P45 ) when a single 4870X2 is faster.

X48's prices wont likely drop here in the philippines, from my own canvasing the cheapest one to get is the Gigabyte X48 DQ6, and that my friend will have a pegged price at 13-14k
