I watched the feature last night on GMA 7, and no, I don't think it was a 'desperate attempt to discredit ABS-CBN'. It was shown like, late at night, where most of the 'masa' are asleep. It was actually quite informative, and it really highlighted how important it is to have competition when it comes to investigative journalism. Would ABS-CBN actually air a feature investigating progress about the ULTRA tragedy? Of course not; if they did, it would be incredibly biased (and yet people will still watch it and go on to win a KBP Golden Dove Award!). According to the documentary, nearly all of the charges against ABS-CBN's management and the production team of Wowowee have been dropped due to lack of evidence (or is it the over-abundance of lawyers? :wink :wink). What I've learned nevertheless is that the tragedy was just simply something that went out of control, and no single person can be blamed for it. The prosecution's decision to sue them was most likely a knee-jerk reaction, as they really could not find solid evidence linking ABS-CBN to their complicity in the tragedy.

Reminds me of an episode of CSI:Crime Scene Investigation where several people (mob) in an airplane killed a man sick with meningitis(?), who they thought was a terrorist trying to open the airplane's hatch. They ended with not getting any suspects at all because of all the chaos.

IMHO, I find this Kapuso/Kapamilya war pointless and fruitless. It's like the Frat Wars on TV; people with blind loyalty to a company/group that ultimately doesn't care about them. If these networks could put advertising in your sleep, they'd do it. So I'd like to remind everyone in the thread: STOP PERSONAL ATTACKS OR YOUR POSTS, OR EVEN THE ENTIRE THREAD WILL BE DELETED/LOCKED ON SIGHT.

a desperate move to pull down wowowee. yes, three years na and the case is already within the courts. what more can they expect? dugay man jud na ang resolution sa mga courts bisag asa pa ka nga lugar. wa man sad tingali pasagdi sa ABS ang mga pamilya sa mga victims. it's just that maybe out of envy to the noontime show, they would do everything to eliminate the competition. unsaon nga wala na may major sponsors ang competition. observe the other show. in my opinion, it's one of the dirty tactics of GMA to pull somebody or a show down and they call it "demolition job".

i so agree. we can't exactly blame anyone for the stampede. yes, the show didn't probably have some sort of contingency plan and if there was, it might have been ineffective... but then again, who would expect that to happen? they had no control over the crowd's behavior and their tendencies.

what's important is, this taught us important lessons, in ensuring public safety when holding events and proper coordination with the local government. something both networks should learn. but what's really painful about what happened, is that it reminded us of our nation's despondent state and our government's blithe ignorance.

i'm really neither a kapuso nor a kapamilya. my loyalty belongs to no one. i only watch and appreciate whatever tickles my fancy at any given moment... hehehe.

so these wars between the networks on this forum is just plain and simple entertaining for me.

...uhmmm...di ta ko ganahan mo apil2x ani...pero, nakabasa lang ko sa ubang nagpost that the documentary was about "a desperate move to bring down wowowee!"...haaay!..walay logic!..ang point sa story was the lack of justice and how the obvious inequality of distribution of wealth among the citizens of the Philippines!..If the government would have done something on the Philippine poverty, those victims and the rest wont resort to such act!..its obvious na sikat na ang wowowee and game shows kay tungod sa atong pagka-kabos..the docu is not trying to bring down wowowee...gi overlook ra man ninu ang content sa story kay tungod ang docu talks about wowowee tragedy..in fact, pag advertise ana, wa gi mention sa GMA ang show...it was quoted "ULTRA tragedy"...

..well, maka ana lang mo na nganong ibalik pa gyud to...it was in the past...kung kamo kuno ang namatyan?..would you even say such thing?..besides, it was a part of our history...can't we talk about that history?..
