regnauld:
sanggano_boyNO. Not by faith alone. Read this: James 2:24 "So you see, a person obtains holiness by his deeds and not by faith alone."
time pa. Both of these mean same thing. how can the first one be wrong?Wrong... As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
That's like saying "you're wrong because you're right but I just want to be the one to say it." xD
Hay, bible readers. Always arguing about who gets to be known to be right even if it's the same sentence being discussed.
Ka remember ko atong usa ka black movie na 2 characters didto:
Black guy 1: Man, it's freezing!
Black guy 2: Yeah, and it's cold too!

Sorry for the confusion, I'll explain it
in the verse he gave, noticed it says "So you see, a person obtains holiness by his deeds and not by faith alone."
If you will read the context some context James 2:11-24, James is talking about people who claims to have faith and yet it doesn't show in their actions?
Just to clarify this,
Salvation is faith alone in Jesus Christ, if you have genuine faith, then you will bare fruit in the spirit, that's all the Good work
Salvation= It's by grace through genuine faith = resulting to good works(including relationship with Jesus because he's the author, repentant heart, accountability in every action, holiness)
Salvation is Not deed faith + good works
Salvation is Not good works + faith
Salvation is Not good works. or we end up boasting ourselves
Ephesians 2:8-9 (New International Version)
8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast.
If we can save ourselves by our own strength, wisdom, knowledge. What's the purpose of Jesus Christ dying in the cross and then resurrecting?
In my previous post a cited a very good example of genuine salvation in Christ Jesus
It's about the other criminal who believed in Jesus Christ to be LORD. My question is that what Jesus promised him?
Did he lived a holy life after he believed in Jesus?
Reality in the Bible, God sees the totality of everything in us, including our spiritual condition.
Romans 3:10-12
10As it is written:
There is no one righteous, not even one;
11there is no one who understands,
no one who seeks God.
12All have turned away,
they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.
Romans 3:23
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 17:3
Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
John 3:16-18 (New International Version)
16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.[b]
Yes, that's why Jesus said Matthew 24:14
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
2 Peter 3:9-10
9The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
10But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.[a]
Almost all forms of media today, is spreading the good news about salvation. Even to the remotest area in the world, missionaries are sent by God just for them to hear the good news of his Salvation.
It won't be long now, before all of the world's population will hear it, some will saved, and others will reject Jesus Christ.
Oi oi.. Lets be fair to other Religions. It's like implying that only Christians can have salvation. I'm a Christian, but I don't think being in this religion I can already attain salvation. It sounds unfair. Remember most of us didn't have a choice what religion we should be in.
Everyone can attain salvation. Why should it be limitted to a specific religion?
For those who follow Christ: let's be like Christ
For those who believe in Allah: be what Allah wants
For those who believe in Buddha: be what Buddha wants.
Many things might be different from all the religions but I think there is always a common thing to all of it, and one of them is, we are adviced to do a good deed, to be a good person.
