have u been here?why dont u come here first and live for awhile here so u have at least an idea on how they run theyre system?yes were paying huge taxes but its doesnt mean that the government is taking everything from ur wages that u cant sustain ur living anymore.its what we call us balance pud sis woi.if im not mistaken...ur paid more than i do...i have a friend who used to live in singapore but now she's in sydney...even her told me that even if ur working as nurse in singapore...my part time wage here is more than she can earned from her full time job in singapore.is that good enough for u?and since i live in sydney...cost of living is high...and ur right.but the wages here are high too...which means its just balance.if u look for a job in suburbs...or away from the city..theyre cheaper...and the cost of living is same..cheap too.so whichever u like.its really a matter of choice.and to tell u sis..i am into filipino society here...everyone loves it here and they will never trade it living to any country in the world.some wont even go back to phil.and im talking about 90% of the filipinos here.so whats ur say?is australia still that bad?if it is...conduct more survey..ask the filipinos here what they think of living here.the other thing is that if ur used to having maide...in singapore u can have a stay in maid for 300 australian a month..but here...its a min. of 15aud an hour.we still do have maid..but since were not rich...we can only afford them part time.4 times a week.

FYI i been to sydney few times already & my hubby travelled there for at least 20x a year, in fact his there last jan 12-15 for 2 days meeting..more or less i knew what sydney life is...I hve lots of relatives from cebu who are living in sydney which most them are australian citizens already, so u don't need to tell me all about sydney, i hve first hand informations that's why i can share it here...as a matter of fact my hubby helped his pinay accountant who requested to be transferred to their sydney office all expenses paid and with salary of AUD$80,000-AUD$90,000 a year, housing & school allowances. She's now happily living in sydney with her family & 3 kids...this forum we're free to give informations to those who are enquiring based on fact & real true informations...

Yes, in Spore we can hve stay-in maid for $300 that's the luxury that we can have & there's nothing wrong to have one as long as we can afford to pay...

yes ur right sis..the facts...but not the discouraging facts though..u are so pessimistic..as ive said earlier..u are trying to discourage our kababayans to come here though u know that life here is better. in singapore...u can go there without a visa but here..its gonna take awhile for u to get a visa.but despite all of it..the taxes...the risk...everything is worth it.know why?coz australia is one of the best country to live in the world.

    Personal Income Tax

Income tax on personal income is a progressive tax. The current tax-free threshold is AUD6,000 and the highest marginal rate for individuals is 45% (plus medicare levy).

As with many other countries, income taxes are withheld from wages and salaries in Australia, often resulting in refunds payable to taxpayers. A nine-digit Tax File Number must be quoted to employers for employees to have withholdings calculated using the various tax brackets. In the absence of this number employers are required to withhold tax at the highest marginal rate from the first dollar. Likewise, banks must also withhold the highest marginal rate of income tax on interest earned on bank accounts if the individual does not provide their tax file number to the bank.

    Low Income Tax Offset
The Low Income Tax Offset is an offset applicable in full for those earning up to $30,000. Since the 2008-09 Budget it provides low income earners with a tax rebate of up to $1200.

The rebate phases out for those earning over $30,000 at 4c for every dollar of taxable income over $30,000. Thus the threshold ends at $60,000. The LITO affects the amount of income per child that can be diverted to children through family trusts. The LITO creates an effective tax-free threshold of $14,000 for low income earners, but an increased effective marginal tax rate (EMTR) for middle income earners (an increase of 4% in the effective marginal tax rate for incomes up to $60000 per annum).

I guess moving to any foreign country has its risks. The best thing to do is to be as prepared as possible. The information both of you have shared with us has been helpful (minus the personal attacks that is ).

Im a dual citizen, Aus and PH, hoping to migrate middle of the year. Once Im there I can judge for myself how easy or difficult it is to land a job in Aus. Lady_blackrose I dont think there will be a problem with my english proficiency for english is my first language. I just like to know if call center jobs are readily available in Aus. Many of my call center officemates yearn for an opportunity to move and work down under.
