THE Philippine tennis campaign in the 23rd Southeast Asian Games got off the wrong foot on Saturday as the country’s bets in the women’s team event were sideswiped by the Indonesians in the semifinals.

The Indon team won the first two singles matches with plenty to spare, bundling the Filipinas out in just a combined one hour and 53 minutes while losing only a total of six games at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

Czarina Mae Arevalo twisted an ankle in the third game of the first set of the opening singles, eventually bowing, 1-6, 3-6, to

Riza Angela Zalameda took a sound beating 1-6, 1-6 at the hands of veteran Wynne Adiati Prakusia.

I've seen pictures of the SEA Games opening in Cebu. It's a blast.

We don't care if we win or not in competitions. What's important is we win more friends in the region.
