I think the better question would be, Is 8400GS SUPER better than onboard videocard? Is it worth buying?

Woah! Christmas eve and it seems like fireworks have already started --- DAYS ago! Chill noobs, geeks and everyone in between this soft and chewy crust.

    evrybody's made their point...

8400 is made not for serious gaming. serious gaming means above 1024x768 and above 30fps (24fps at least, like ure tv sets and u'll notice no lagging) with games that uses a lot of graphics power (ie. crysis, cod4, farcry2). 8400 super is a nice card, but it is quite limited only to some tasks other than gaming at high settings.

a word of thot thou.... as i read the posts again, it seems like somebody's over reacting on simple things, and its because of misunderstanding other's points. That is Shooting Before Aiming, and that is wrong...

    MERRY CHRISTMAS...

i got a gaming rig and im in to gaming pud, if i get 50fps and above ok na, but i would prefer 75fps with native reso, and some eye candy, mag anti-aliasing rako if gakapin ang power sa ako rig than what is required by the game. but i wanted to put a video card in my moms pc coz didto tig gamit ang ako mom and ako sister and my sister wanted to play guitar hero 3 in that pc. I did some research also about 8400gs coz it was the cheapest i could find. but i ended up not buying the 8400gs becoz of the many negative comments nga ako nabasa pag research nako sa google.

i ended up buying the 9500gt 256mb ddr3 128bit. tag 2k kapin ang price. according to what i researched, 7600gt < 8600gt < 9500gt. and in my test, guitar hero 3 all high settings and 1280x1024 reso smooth kaayo, even nba 2k9 did well at mid-high settings.

so ako masulti, in a video card purchase, it depends on:
1.) what games you want to play (and what the game you want to play requires)
2.) your gaming standard (low-mid-high settings, how much fps you want, how high imo ganahan reso)
3.) and of course your budget
