Default Which is Better? 2x667mhz or 2x800mhz RAM

    For motherboard
    Intel DG35EC (1333MHz)

    (DUAL channel?) 2x667 - 1gig ram

    or a

    (DUAL channel?) 2x800 - 1gig ram

Is this useless? or will it dual channel to 1333mhz and still a wasted speed?
I mean it simple perform just like 2x667?

aw yea - reason im asking i that.
Memory is cheap na man nowadays.
    XP - has a limitation of 3-4gb.
    Vista - 32bit i dunno.

Dili pa ku nahan 64bit kay basig magka problema lang ko sa drivers.

Fastest FSB of Motherboard today i see is 1333mhz.
so having 2x667mhz can be fully utilize the 1333mhz.
are there any reasons for 2x800mhz? im guessing it will be slowed down to 2x667mhz para ma-utilize ang 1333mhz FSB sa motherboard.

Im planning to buy a new Computer.
Still dont know if buying 2x800mhz for a 1333mhz motherboard is useless.

bro, bigger numbers mean it moves bigger data. simple as that. if you can drop or equalize the latency of your DDR2-800, down to Cas4 the better.

    Is it better to buy
    2 x 1gig ram 667?

    or just

    1 x 2gig ram 800?

ah! a much better question (expect a bad answer )

anyway, there's a small bottleneck as far as a single channel DDR2-800 is concerned so go for dual-channel DDR2-667. much better with Windows Vista since XP is not so good with dual-channel memory configuration.

    also

so having 2x667mhz can be fully utilize the 1333mhz.
not applicable since this is with regards to the front-side bus man not the memory bus.

    **EDIT**

the front-side bus depends on the processor, if your processor has a fsb of 333, then quad-data rate gives you 1333 pero if the processor using 200, then overall front-side bus is only 800. if you want to fully optimize your computer with regards to front-side bus and memory bus, then know what your processor's frequency is, then use the appropriate memory that corresponds to it.

    for example:

E8400 is using 333 front-side bus, to optimize your system get a DDR2-667 memory because it operates at 333 MHz as well. This is called synchronizing your memory to your front-side bus ( FSB : DRAM ratio ) is set at 1 : 1. Although there are benchmarks around that proves the myth of better performance at this ratio, consider it as a good practice for system optimization.

if you choose DDR2-800, your motherboard will automatically select the appropriate divider if you have everything on AUTO. the advantage of this is that if you decide to overclock in the future, you can easily raise the front-side bus to 400 to get 1 : 1. mas lisod man i overclock ang memory.

ayos! thanks. next question, another post.

by the way, if you use DDR2-800 and everything set to AUTO, your FSB : DRAM ratio would be most likely 4:5. which by googling has the best ratio for performance (not sure).

given that the processor is 333 MHz (like the E8400)

5/4 * 333 = 416.25 (slightly overclocked imong memory, pero dali ra kaayo ni sa memory)

    **EDIT**

sayop diay ko, most likely 5:6 ang ratio ang gamiton sa board.

    6/5 * 333 = 399.6, rounded off is 400 MHz (memory multiplier is 1.2)

much better use 1 2gb 800mhz memory sooner or later u will add another stick
(considering prices of value ram now a days is going really low 2gb 800 mem usually cost around 1.2k or below)
thus having 2x2gb 800 mhz on a dual channel mode much better

naa man gyud maximum 3gb ra ang windows XP.

im not sure about Vista 32bit editions.

pwidi ra diay pud e overclock sa memory.

baratu na lang man gyud ang ram. sayang pud.
