i have a creative inspire 4.1 and also a creative four point surround 4.1 still and they sound good with my nForce2 board (can support up to 7.1 depending on setup). i think it really depends on your chipset. if you're planning to buy an expansion sound card.. then go for the latest audigy series and not the live series.

mas better ang speakers nalang imo gastoan, dili man gyud ana ka daku ang impact sa soundcard, uless kato mga audigy pro imo gamiton for editing and stuff. aron ma klaro gyud nimo and sound.

different motherboard use different integrated sound solutions. which is why you need to know what the integrated sound codec is, who knows, it might be at par with the available aftermarket cards.
