Thanks for the explanation rodsky. If you don't mind, got another question. Where do stars go after they're being sucked? I heard sometime ago that celestial objects (stars, planets, etc) pulled by black holes eventually disappear without a trace. I just don't see the logic why matter all of a sudden just disappears when sucked by a black hole? We all know in Physics that matter cannot be destroyed. Or did I get it all wrong here?

Since we have no way of knowing what really happens past the event horizon, all we can speculate is the simple physics of objects being "spaghettified" as they fall into the singularity--this basically means, anything, and I mean ANYTHING, falling into a black hole, will be torn to shreds--I know, I know, it's not as romantic as a "wormhole to another time/place" idea, but I'm practical, and unless there's evidence to prove otherwise, that's the answer--stars get torn apart to shreds and become nothing--not destroyed mind you...lots of "nothings" out there that still classify as matter (i.e. dark matter). That's all there is.

^^ "spaghettified" ... i like the word. On that note, i like the world to end that way when doomsday comes. Getting slurped like noodles sounds better than getting hit by a rock from out of nowhere.

Thanks rodsky for that insight -- another addition to my knowledge chest.
