as they say, you can never prove anything. Only, disprove it. That is how Scientific Evidences work.

Besides, I'm not talking about the Paranormal you know. Kanang mga Paranormal Paranormal like ghosthuntings o unsa pa dinha. Unya, maka kuha kaha ka ug ghost unya ipa kita sa among tanan like tanan gyud maka kita?

ang sciences, logical and systematic. ang conclusion kay mka prove or disprove but wouldn't confuse its own image like what ur saying nga structured in a way that the finished product seems to contradict its own foundation. unsa na ni,iyang tuyuon ug contradict iyahang self? hahaha.

sa pag dala ra na kay...

Remember, THE METHOD OF SCIENCE, THE AIM OF RELIGION.

I did not mean para-psychology Bro...Nor metaphysics...I am refering to modern psychology.

The 'human nature', selective bias, developmental psychology, sociology even, are some of the contributors to the whole thing.

I was rather vague, wasn't I?...Sorry for not being clear.

Here is an analogy that I hope would help:

Liken it to demonstration of a magician. Im not gonna lie and tell you that we are not using any trickery. We know its all trickery. But people still fall for it. Of course, not in total conviction, but to some extent (because rationality exceeds, and because there is not enough inherent motivation a psychologically healthy man can have to suspend his/her rationality when seeing a magician do his feats).

What a magician do is all concerning physics and mathematics. (and the magician may not be fully aware of how it specifically concern..but aware he is nonetheless) But it is used in a way that seems to defy physics and the law of mathematics.

The science behind the modus operandi of course, does not directly relate to the law of physics 'defied'.

(We dont need a set of skilled hands to perform our demonstrations, you know. )

In the realm of the paranormal, a similar structure exists. BUT due to the fact that the paranormal targets any or all of the three considered basic human nature: to survive, to procreate, and to 'protect' Coupled with Man's tendency to look for ways to lessen the difficulty of fullfilling these seemingly simple but monumental primal tasks, the motivation of suspending his/her rationality is rather high.

The scientific structure being the particular paranormal phenomena of course, does not directly relate to the scientific facts that that particular phenomena attack.

Case in point: Contacts with the dear departed. Who doesnt want the idea that we dont lose them afterall? That they are not gone despite they died? That motivation alone can suspend rationality.

Who does not want the idea that someone up there is taking care of things? (a.k.a. god)

'White ladies' 'wayward spirits' and other sightings of otherworldly entities, can be explained by a case of what science call atered-states, in where sensoral 'imagery'/perceptions/sensations is induced by suggestion - self-inflicted or not. (Altered states should not be confused with hypnosis, which is too sketchy to become a science at the present.)

Virtually all of these stuffs can be summed up as manifestations of the power of suggestion.

But the thing is, because of the fact that the suggestions is coming from customs and teachings that society has hammered into Man's mind, most often than not, the phenomena is not 'perpetrated' by an individual (as in the case of the magician). If ever there is indeed an individual that seems to perpetrate it, most often than not, he is NOT aware of the nature of what he does. Ex. the priest celebrating the eucharist (a ceremony littered with the suggestion of healing...and devious and subtle persuasion and reinforcement of belief.) The priest as I understand does not realize this psychological standpoint (which is all that there really is). The Pope does realize this, for sure...

Same goes with faith-healing. Purely psychological. The image that society imposed on these kind of healing is veeeeeery misleading.

All of these 'machinery' relies on that rather overlooked window between perception and reality. It quite hard to portay all these things through words. (That is why I recommend the book. Hudson made a great job at it.)

And then, all of these is the tip of the iceberg. (I wont expose it all of course, I would risk my profession. )

I hope the connection can be seen.

    Hi ya!

err...not sure if this is the right thread but I was just wondering if I have some sort of ESP or something else...here are the situations in my life:

    - when I was in kinder/Prep St. Scholastica's Academy Pampanga, I dreamed that I was in a classroom taking some sort of exam, I see a field and some houses in a subdivision beyond the walled fence of the said compound. I forgot about that dream and the in Grade 2, my parents took me to Don Bosco Academy Pampanga for an entrance exam...and lo and behold...when I sat on the one armed desk chair typical in High School cam[uses, it was the same room, the field and the houses in the subdivision beyond the walled fence of the school.

    - when I was in College, I was training to be an ROTC officer during my freshmen years, it was a kind of harsh because it's studying and the senior officer students were harrassing us all the time. It was during this time that I dreamed that I was someplace in the mountains, in a some kind of one story house surrounded by trees with square capiz shell designs for it's windows wherein me and my batchmates were being punished severely. A few months later, we were taken blindfolded to an unknown area, and we had a hell of a night being initiated into the Corps Of Officers...when the rights were finished we were full fledged officers, our blindfolds were taken off...and to my astonishment, i first saw the windows of the house we were taken to, it was one storied, had square capiz shells for it's windows, and was surrounded by trees...the place was high up in Antipolo.

    - sometimes when I watch tv, a thought enters my mind about a specific movie that I watched before and haven't seen for years...some days later...that said movie will be broadcasted on the said channel.

-this is just recently, during my first days in Cebu, me and a few Cebuano Collectors met for the first time, one particular friend was yoncha...he's my good buddy on some Collectors message Boards and he was the very first person that I met personally in Cebu when I came to work here in 2006(I'm from Pampanga). We and other collectors met at the Hobbyshaft Store in BTC. We had one picture taken and that was it and we went separate ways. Him thinking that I went back to Manila but we still chatted on the net. I only visited Hobbyshaft only once after that Collector's EB.

Nov. 12 2008, I was at SM Toy Kingdom Cebu because I bought a toy there for a project. For some strange reason, I wanted to go to Hobbyshaft to check something out...though I know that the thing that I'm looking for would not be there...but still, I went there.

As I entered the store, the guy manning the store instantly recognized me and said hello...and then he told me I was there probably because of the sad news that a Cebuano Collector died.

At first I didn't know what was he taking about and I asked him "who died?" He said Edison and his wife. At first i didn't recognize the name but when he said that Edison's username is Yoncha, my knees felt wobbly and immediately asked about the wake and everything. they died in a car accident in Butuan City Nov. 11 around 7-8pm

I went home saddened and immediately looked for the one and only picture that I had together with Yoncha. As I was looking at the pic, I was felt goosebumps, the picture was taken Nov 11, 2006, 7pm. I miss him but he'll always be in my memory

I don't know if these are coincidences or not but I hope the nice people of this thread can help me explain some of these things to me.

    Thanks!

I believe ur "dream/premonition story" can be explained by psychology... Alel help!

As for the "car accident" story if that's true (im not saying ur lying) is really remarkable considering the probabilities involving the date and time but nevertheless it can still happen.

I remember a conversation about Paranormal I had with my closest friends.
We ended up telling experiences about "strange coincidence". I couldn't come up with such a story...but all my friends did (stories as remarkable as yours, in terms of probability). So maybe "coincidence" such as urs..isn't really remarkable at all...but happens in most of us, especially if u consider the question

What are the chances that 1 VERY STRANGE COINCIDENCE (that you can remember) will occur to u in ur life before age 20? (i assume ur age)

Im not an expert but I think the answer for that is...."VERY PROBABLE"..considering its only "1". How many such stories do u have?

i doubt the exact times are exact. it is already mentioned "around 7-8pm". gi round off ra na. nothing extraordinary about it.

  7. #177
bahala na dli jud cya exact bro.....extraordinary japon...sa akong gamay nahibaw-an bahin sa math (nursing man gud ko)

Probability 1/365 (kay sakto man ang date) X 1/24 (kay sakto man ang hour, bahalag ang minutes dli)
= 1/8760 = .011% meaning kas-a ra na mahitabo sa 8760 ka try......pero kani cya 1 ra ka try kay kas-a raman mamatay tawo.

  8. #178
hmm... how old are you? for sure you have x number of times in your lifetime ang nov 11. That increases your chances or probability something happening in common with those days in your lifetime.

pareha ra gud na na bday nimo. dili man siguro na coincidence na maghikay ka kada tuig on the same eact date.

anyway, i don't get the significance or relation of the date the picture was taken and the date the person died. if naa siguro nag ingon niya on nov 11, 2006 na mamatay siya same date on another year mashock gyud siguro ko ana (but this has never happened in history. only 3rd hand testimonials). But then again, if a john smith died on nov 11, 2006 and another one died on nov 11 on 2007 won't be a coincidence considering that there are practically millions of john smiths in the world. predicted napud na na naay mamatay na john smith next year.

anyway, it's always in our nature to try to rationalize something so ordinary into something bigger. hence, apply lagi dayon ang ockham's razor.

Hi guys! Thanks for the replies

I'm actually 33 na hehehe I know that I have experienced many dreams that have come true already but the ones mentioned above are the ones that really had an impact on me. I'll try to remember the others. How about a somewhat weird experience at our workplace? hehe!

This is a part of the group picture taken Nov.11 2006. The guy on the left is me and the guy on the right is my dear friend Yoncha. His wife who was his GF then was the one taking the picture.

    tokidoki_v2.0@
I'm 33 na bro You're probably right that the picture taken and the date of the death of my friend and her wife was a somewhat coincidence...it's actually the "going to Hobbyshaft at BTC even if I was carrying a big plastic bag on Nov 12, 2008 even if I don't go there at all (only twice had I gone there since my 2 years stay here in Cebu) only to find out that he's had an accident and had passed away na that bothers me on Nov 11, 2008

Anyway, I'm just probably looking for a paranormal answer to some situations in my life hehehe

ok. that's a picture of two people staring at the camera na. sige start reading, regulars. i'm all ears. Since the wife is dead as well i don't think you can contact her and tell her her dead husband's pic is on istorya.net.
