"i think the human game was up a long time ago, when the high priests and traders took over."
sad but very true... very depressing to think about it.

if u know what is good and wat is bad then follow wat is good even if wala ka religion if u believe in the good things and do good deeds mas more pana kaysa having a religion
Yeah, I agree that religion can be looked at as a sort of vehicle by which we can understand better the realities that exist beyond the material world. I believe that religion, at its best, can help us attain true freedom and happiness.
wlay head sa osa ka religious group na pobre bay.mangayo cla sa kada membro, ang oban pog sanay pud gane bay.ang maayo wla kita gene bohat na daotan sa ato egsuon og mo tabang kita sa kabos kung sa ato tanaw wala gud cla mahemo.pero tabang pud na makabarog pud cla sa ela kaogalengon.(to help people who's know how to help themself).
@ elaga: Member ko before sa isa ka lay ministry and part jud na kanang muhatag ka og tithes. Pero dili man na pugsanay. You may give if you want to, pero if dili ka ganahan or if ipit ka sa money then of course you don't have to give. Pero it's good man gud to give. It's good to share. And it doesn't go straight to the leaders of the ministry for them to use for personal reasons. It goes to the funds of the minstry itself, which it uses for its very practical needs.
Maybe you have in mind particular groups or denominations that are obviously out there for profit, more than their supposed mission of spreading the Good News.
Pero sa ako lang na-experience, wala na'ng mga ingun ana. Anyway, money is not evil man pud. Do you expect these leaders of these ministries to be dirt poor? How can the organization run? Wait for miracles na lang?
^ Are they necessarily mutually exclusive?
yup...
what does religion have to do with improving our lives? nothing.
It is about the way all organized religions work. Taking our money and filling us with the fear of hell or bribe us with the concept of heaven if only we remain good. nothing more than just mind control and to keep people in line.

i don't agree with you bro. religion has done great things to improve people's lives, too. and i'm coming from a Christian perspective.
take a look at gawad kalinga, for example. and they're not just Christians doing the work, there are also people from different faiths achieving something wonderful for our society.
that's a misconception, bro. it may be true for some organized religions. it's not all about taking people's money. it's a terrible caricature of Christianity. it's not all about mind control. faith is not necessarily unreasonable. It is about the way all organized religions work.
