-- can't really tell that's it's proper or not. depende siguro sa labad sa akong ulo.
for me it is kinda 'O.A' (if there's such an acronym in the English dictionary) .. I work with the same profession as they do.. BUT..!..
for me, I pick the person whom I want to speak straightforward english with... Walk and talk like the romans do..
We all know for the fact that though our country is one of the most prevalent American english speakers in Asia, we still need to retain our native tongue or dialects in our day to day life and routines..
You cant speak english to someone who doesnt speak much fluency as you do... You have to LEVEL with them, if you want to get the message accross..
Like I've said, it's perfectly okay if you speak to people whose at par with you( I don't mean to degrade anybody), businessmen, professionals and the like.. people who can readily understand your point. BUT then again.. for me lang sad.. English is not my primary language, when I was born in this side of the world, I learned our vernacular cebuano dialect first before learning english at school. (remember the policy in your classroom? Always speak ENGLISH!)
Again.. to conclude.. there's really nothing wrong speaking or talking english in malls.. but again for me you just have to speak and talk to the right person for it.
LEVEL and GAUGE the right person to talk to...if you want to get the message across and be understood w/o appearing to be obnoxious to other people...
that is my take...
