looking at this classically, this is synonymous to "i do not like the kind of love you are giving me" or "i cannot love you back the way you love me". it's funny how we say things that we don't mean, or actually mean something else altogether. what one needs to understand is this: just because they say things like this, it doesn't actually mean that they do not love you. it simply means that they are not yet ready to go the whole 9 yards. in cases like this, as you would a garden, you have to cultivate your relationship, inject the occasional fertilizer (wipe that smirk off your face...), and let it grow. when the fruit is ripe, you wouldn't even have to bother with words.
