OK, I'm beginning to have the feeling that you like me to spoon-feed you......
OK, I'll do it this time....

in your previous post you said:
Market economies NEED high population density in order to grow. That's what started the Industrial revolution: people coming together in cities and creating mass markets. Without that, markets would stagnate and the economy would collapse
So I question that because I don’t think population density is the area that we need to increase to make Cebu a livable city…..Cebu's density is even much higher to some livable cities in the world.

    And then you said:

Population is not really the issue. It's how the city is governed that will make the most impact.
    …so for me,Â* both posts are contradictory…

if you think it’s not, then so be it…….c’mon don’t make a big deal about it……move on....have a life dude

You apprently can't understand logic in a statement. I said market economies NEED high population density. But that doesn't mean we need to increase our current growth rate. It may already be sufficient. We are higher than some places, but also lower than many other places with advanced economies (like Hong Kong).

What I specifically said is that we don't need to LOWER it (because someone said we need to lower it).

Next time, try thinking about what is said to you.

Look, you're looking foolish already. I've been poking holes in your claims all night. Maybe you wantto give yourself a break.

hehehe....you still can't get enough of me, can you?Â*

......... reggiebuang never mentioned lowering cebu's population density...he was just asking, but that doesn't mean to lower down the density, it might also mean to stay on where we are......nobody said about lowering the population density.......you're the one who needs to think about what is said to you...

but, you're right I need to have a break, I'm making myself look so foolish by answering your posts.... I'll heed your advice......thanks and have a good night sleep.

Wrong. Mr. reggiebuang has pointed out your lack of understanding. Read reply #55.

True. Historically, governance is probably one of the most important (if not THE most important) factors that determines the progress of a nation or city. It affects just about everything, and in the case of very good ro very bad governance, almost all other factors are reduced to being minor (or even insignificant) contributors to economic progress and "liveability".

"Overpopulation" has very little to do with poverty (it hardly ever does exist actually). Population density, however, is an important factor in creating markets and economies of scale. Poverty is usually caused by bad governance and short-sighted economic policies and economic structures. Well-governed countries usually have good economies, no matter how big the size of their population and how high their population density (like Hong Kong). Badly-governed countries often have terrible economies even if their populations are small (like Ethiopia or Somalia).

From: Population implosion, by Gene Edward Veith
    http://www.worldmag.com/world/issue/...cultural_1.asp

. . . human beings are in fact the most
valuable resource of all. Citizens are not just consumers but producers.
Having fewer people can wreak havoc on an economy, creating both a labor
shortage and a shortage of buyers. A government with a shrinking
population faces a smaller military and fewer taxpayers. Dwindling
populations have always signaled cultural decline, with less creativity,
energy, and vitality on every level of society.

Already Japan -- fertility rate 1.3 -- is facing the problem of having
fewer taxpaying young people to support the burgeoning number of retirees,
something that will hit the generous welfare states of Europe especially
    hard.

Already Europe has had to import large numbers of immigrants to bolster
the labor force, most of them from the Middle East. Fewer and fewer native
Europeansâ -- along with the dwindling influence of Christianity -- and
more and more Muslims raise the prospect of the Islamification of
Western Europe. One reason "old Europe" is not supporting the United
States in a war with Iraq is that politicians in France and Germany fear
the reaction among their Muslim voters.

Hopefully, Cebu would be the most lvable city by 2015... I sure would like it, since I'm planning to settle down in Cebu.

And yes, everything is achievable, when everyone would work toward that goal.Â*
