OC your processor is limited to the mobo, how much voltage it can handle, not the PSU, lol

OC'ing your processor to dangerously high levels will shorten its lifespan, i dont suggest you mess with the voltage and oc using stock voltages.

lol what were after is stability of ur OC.....
and for gods sake better invest 1st with a good brand psu and good model.....
especially the one with many protection circuits.... and high effeciency
those models have a stable 12v rail and other outputs.....
just check and you will notice the big gap.....

in the 1st place if u OC u dont want to be using the same cpu in the next 2 or 3 years..... thats why u want to get the most out of ur proc

if you can lock the RAM frequency in the bios, then it doesn't affect the OC potentials..

I beg to disagree bai, there are motherboards that can't handle much overclocking. tried the cheapo ASROCK Wolfdale1333-D667 Mobo, and it can't OC'ed my E2160 @ 3.0GHz, Stock voltage; While the DFI Lanparty UT ICFX3200-T2R/G can OC'ed it @ 3.0GHz, Stock voltage. n_n,

I agree, some motherboards have what they call Vdrop (voltage drops) na maka limit gyud sa imo overclock.
Pero pwede ra ma solutionan using voltmod or pencil mod.

I dont agree on various points.
-its not the psu nor the mobo but the CPU that ultimately limits your OC.
-its how much voltage the CPU can handle and not how much voltage the mobo can handle.
-OC'ing may shorten your hardware lifespan, but heat will shorten it much more.

^ 1:1 is synchronizing your memory frequency to your front-side bus. this is called FSBRAM Ratio or a memory divider.

for example, you have DDR2-800 RAM which operates at 400MHz but since Double Data Rate (DDR), this is why you have 800 MHz. Now, if your CPU FSB is 400MHz and you have your DDR2-800 operating at its stock settings, both processor and memory are running on the same frequency hence, 1:1 (400MHz : 400MHz).

depending on your mobo, memory dividers sometimes do not appear as err, memory dividers (1:1, 1:2, 3:4, etc.) but would be shown as memory multipliers. you simple have to multiply this one to your fsb and the total should be your memory frequency. use this to equalize both cpu fsb and memory frequency but there really is no problem running both asynchronously, imo na chipset bahala ana pero ideal man gud ang 1:1 kay for every cycle sa imong proc, the memory can compensate, wala'y sobra, wala'y kulang.

akong advice nimo if you're not using performance rams, lock the memory frequency to 800 MHz to avoid overclocking it. at one point basin dili mo post imong system, daghan kaayo ka factors tan-awn. you see, if you overclock your front side bus, tanan man gud mokuyog (PCIE, RAM, etc.) this, i beleive is the best way to get the most out of your CPU. para kung failed OC gani, you'll know that the issue is isolated to the processor. play with the rams later kung kabalo naka sa limitation sa imong processor.
