If there's a nail to the coffin of the AC-130 Spectre, it's this...

"The cost of one round/shell of 105-mm howitzer is P30,000.00"

"In his presentation before the 4th Mindanao Media Summit in Davao City on August 8, Esperon told reporters that in the “all-out war” waged by then president Joseph Estrada in 2000, “it was estimated that an average of 20 million pesos a day or a total of 1.133 billion pesos were eaten up during the whole period of the drive.”

Again, no matter what you guys will recommend, we'll all go back to the issue of money and our ailing economy.

why don't you all post corresponding price tags for all those items you've been throwing around on this thread. convert it to pesos if you could. include everything from the weapons, fuel costs, training, maintenance and the like, say, for the next 10-20 years.

everybody seems so excited with all their suggestions they've forgotten about the main purpose of this thread:

"solving the insurgency issues of the country"

is spending X Billions of Dollars = solution of getting rid of rebels??

do you think that's the number 1 priority of the Philippines RIGHT NOW??

is that the best way to spend hard-earned money RIGHT NOW??

before we get carried away with all these nice toys, let's figure out first if the Filipino people really need this RIGHT NOW.... tell me...

I agree, hehe.. We can afford the 105-mm shell, but for sure we cant afford the AC-130 Spectre..

OT: Share lang ko, tag 30k diay usa ka shell sa 105, maypa nangawat ko ug usa, hehe.. kay during the all out war, 3 of the 105-mm howitzer was positioned in our town, and i was there helping the cafgu to get 105-mm shells from a woden box, that day the howitzer fire around 20 rounds to MILF rebels located somewhere in maguindanao, after the barrage we heard the MILF running for retreat but sadly no MILF was hit.. So worth 600k na diay ang gisayang, hehe..

i thought we are talking about Philippine Airforce - One of the weakest in the world. I guess we have another thread for solving the insurgency issues of the country. Or make another thread for let's figure out first if the Filipino people really need this RIGHT NOW..

We are talking about Philippine Airforce - One of the weakest in the world, then we are suggestion and talking kung what is the best equipment na pwede unta magamit sa ato air force, na kung pwede unta mapalit sa goverment, na kung naa lang unta ta kwarta, para unta di nata ma weakest na airforce.

Now we get to the economics of war.

Whether you like it or not in the real world it means big bucks. To solve this problem we should start developing our indigenous war machines.

Necessity encourages ingenuity.

again, it also helps if we read the first post explaining the title of the thread..... what's the TS purpose of upgrading the Philippine Airforce.... and ultimately, do we have enough money to sustain it... that's the point.

Other poor countries such as in Vietnam, Bangladesh & some countries has better aircraft than our PAF.

    Im just confuse.. lolz..

    Simple math/physics.

Newton's Third Law of Motion. "To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction." You will go through the floor if the floor isn't exerting an equal force upon your body weight upwards. If your weight is great and the floor cannot support you, it will be "defeated" and you'll go falling through the floor.

In waging a war, you have two opposing forces. If one force is stronger than the other, then the opposing weaker force is defeated. Kinda like Newton's Third Law eh?

    Now think...

“it was estimated that an average of 20 million pesos a day or a total of 1.133 billion pesos were eaten up during the whole period of the drive.”

And still, the MILF was not defeated. Ergo, it seems that Newton's "Third Law" is in effect here...but wait...

If our government/military spent a total of 1.133 billion pesos for the campaign, and they couldn't "push the wall", does this mean that the rebels/enemies of the state ALSO spent 1.133 billion pesos for the effort? And if they didn't, following Newton's Third Law (I know, crappy analogy again, but it still somehow works), how come they weren't defeated?

Makes you ponder a lot eh?

Where did all that money go? Why did the rebels, who spent a teensy-weensy fraction of the amount spent by the government, still around?
