W7 is going to be more compatible with current hardware than Vista was first introduced. However MS should have focused on better UI design. Personally, I think the GUI design of OS X still is best - its beautifully minimal and more importantly works as it is intended to work. I never really liked transparent, embossed, colorful windows. It feels so old a design.
