    Default Dealing with Insomnia?

    hello there, everyone knows what insomnia is right?

    so im having troubles on my sleep though. i can't get myself to sleep at times of 10-12pm. commonly, i get asleep on 2-4am, yes. thats no kidding. im concerned about this health issue by now, im still 17 and i need to grow some height.

    anyways, my waking up times are 12-1pm. its not so normal really.

    i have tried lots of remedy for this problem. milk every night, read newspaper every night, 1 dota game every night but still it doesn't work. a reason why i can't sleep is because i think alot everytime i sleep. random things pop in my mind that i can't control myself not to think.

    this is a serious problem for me, can anyone help me?

    1. A nightcap works wonders. Unfortunately, you're still 17 and I'm guessing that isn't such a good suggestion. But what Mama doesn't know, won't hurt. *wink wink*

    2. Your body clock may be off. Do you find yourself sleepy during the daytime? If so, condition yourself to gradually sleep earlier during the nighttime. Or you could go hard-core and not sleep the entire day, then sleep at 8 or 9pm the next night. Works for me.

    3. This works really well for me. When you're in bed, thinking about that really hot chick's smokin' ass in class, or how much of an idiot your college professor is, try to breathe in and out deeply. Concentrate on your deep breathing for about, oh say, 5 minutes. Before you know it, you'll be making out with that chick and beating the crap out of your teacher...

    ...in your dreams.

    Oh, when all else fails, you could always choke the chicken, if you know what I mean.

    Hope this helps.

    @personalmgt: i just thought I'm alone suffering such thing...hehehe...anyways, I've had same problems when I was your age(I'm 21 now)...I find it really hard to sleep..nowadays, I normally go to bed at around 2-4am....worst, I don't go to sleep and during the day I'm like a zombie na galutaw and I feel sleepy at noon time...I think it's not pretty much on physical but rather mental activity...As you've said, I too have so much in mind before sleeping...I can't seem to find a way to not to think of anything...I've also had this thing since like 15 or 16 and it has gotten worse...the only time I've been thankful of this sleep disorder was when we're doing our Plant Design(aka thesis) with my teammates....

    @diatabz: I'll buy for sure a nightcap...haven't tried it yet...thanks

    DON'T!

    muhahahahahahahaha.

    i'll try the nightcap solution though. if it still doesn't help, i'll try the 33 hour walay tugpa-tugpa technic

    Ok, last nalang jud.

    Try to do something pleasantly monotonous before going to bed. Read a magazine, knit (For girls. If you're a guy who likes knitting, that's cool, just make sure nobody finds out) or take a walk. Also, I noticed na both of you seem to be complaining about thinking too much at night. A solution to that would be to set aside 15 minutes of quiet time for yourself. Most of the time we're so busy during the day that the only time we can really stop and think about the day's events is before going to bed at night. Setting aside time to think really helps.
