Video games does INFLUENCE children or even adult to became violent. The reasons of those who worship the game is another pathetic defense of their cause.

Same goes as pornography, it doesnt teach people what is the real *** but it encourages to perversion and ulitmately venture into the unknown and that includes rape, incest, etc. Pornography advocates says it is a freedom of expression. Well, yes it is but not all freedom is beneficial.

Same goes with violent games. At first you will think it is just a game then you will dream about doing the real thing. Good for those of you who claimed that the games didn't changed your attitude...well at least for now. Why don't you advocates of violent games experiment on your childre (if you have) by gluing them to the tube with these violent games. Then hopefully you and me will still be alive 5years from now to tell and hear the story.

I grew up in a generation where children goes out with friends and play the whole day. Without any doubt most of my generation have high EQ, more patient and more outgoing than the boob tube babies lately. Not to mention children are generally healthier because of good exercise.

Everything is permissible for us but not everything is beneficial.

i dont think its equal but it influences, because most of the people who commited crimes didnt even get the chance to play those games but the people who produced the game was influenced by the people who commited crimes, its the opposite.

hmm...yep maka influence jud pag ayo, kay naa man sad people nga too much involvement sa game would then fantasize on doing such in reality.. thinking if they feel excited or love the fun with just the game how much more in reality? and guess what, they would try and apply.. one time i've seen on the news mga teenagers who did exactly in reality what they did in a game.. forgot what that video game was called... though they didn't succeed unlike sa game...

so not equal... lol.. mas sayon himoon sa game but lisod in reality specially if it involves mga power power.. wahehehe... and if equal ang violence.. wala na tingali earth.. hehe..

Slightly off-topic. But I have something for that. Pornography is somewhat, a movie right? a movie clip? So lets compare it a little bit on ULTRA Violent Movies. Repeating what I've said ago, its a movie. And what exactly is a movie? pictures that change rapidly in a certain fraction of a second with sound. So where do you exactly watch a movie? Theater, TV, Computer, Fill in the blanks. Lets assume that I watch Porno and a Movie in a TV. Judging the future of a television in the future, it will just be a television. No matter what you do to it, IT WONT EVOLVE because it will always be a television. And as long as you have that television, all you can do is watch Barely Legal. Okay, you got me there. I lose.

WWWWW---Wait. I'm just kidding. You didn't get me there. Pero how about computers? Computers don't just let you watch those blingy Matrix Fonts unlike televisions. Computers do alot of "Interaction" where they simulate "Real Life" situations. Televisions don't do interaction, so when you watch your barely legal movie in your TV you can't interact with the porno stars in there. Unlike when we play Polygon Love(its a hentai game), we get to interact with the stuff in there where we don't even have to go out there and have ***. Comparing it into the television, we actually have to ask our wife/partner to get that intercourse or to rape, incest, gang rape, fill in the blanks just to get that interaction. Fun isn't it?

Good for those of you who claimed that the games didn't changed your attitude...well at least for now.
what do you think? we guys that you mentioned are the "lucky few ones" who didn't have that change of attitude? hell no. We are the "Legion" that didn't have that violent behaviors. People like Cho at Virginia Tech Shooting or whoever that kid does that "Video Game" related incidents are, well, the few unfortunate ones who can't separate reality from fantasy.

Why don't you advocates of violent games experiment on your children (if you have) by gluing them to the tube with these violent games. Then hopefully you and me will still be alive 5years from now to tell and hear the story.
Experiment? Hell no. What do you think you expect us to do in the future? Mess around with good parenting? I think the best answer to that when our children goes violent is that, yeah, Bad Parenting. So don't play with it.

And how about the ESRB ratings? well you're referring to children so why do I have to let them play violent video games if those games are not rated for children? That's bad parenting. So what do I exactly mean for a Good Parenting? The criteria I am thinking so far Good Parenting is:

-Give your children guidance while they play video games, video games are supposed to be for families(as quoted by the guy who invented Atari). Remember when Pong was released in public? I remember playing it with my mom and dad, it was fun to play especially with the family.
-Give your children the "utmost care" they love.
    -Dont spoil your children.

I grew up in a generation where children goes out with friends and play the whole day. Without any doubt most of my generation have high EQ, more patient and more outgoing than the boob tube babies lately. Not to mention children are generally healthier because of good exercise
I really, really suck at mathematics back at high school where I got a removal exam for math just to graduate. But guess what? when our EQ/IQ's were compared on that class, I got the highest EQ/IQ(or whatever it is) that I beated the EQ/IQ of our valedictorian. Living proof that video games does increase your EQ/IQ

EDIT: Just don't play the same game at a time. Because you're stuck at that game which means the information you are getting is just looping in you head all over, no innovations.

Why do we need to experiment on our children when I am living proof that it doesn't do anything. Violent video games have been around longer than you know. Just because it is such a big part of society now, people criticize it's effects or what they believe it's effects are. Good. They did that with books, radio and motion pictures too. Oh how wrong people were.

I grew up with video games violent and not so violent ones. Don't even talk about EQ, if that equated to anything related to gaming, then you could also say the same for scientists and academics the majority of whom are inward thinking. I like games. I also have a very active social life both as a teenager and as an adult. Don't tell us about your generation which shared the exact same social outcasts without numbers. I have many friends both online and in real life that share my passion for gaming. I credit the very roots of my knowledge now to trying to get games to work in DOS. Before I left Cebu, my friends and I started having monthly LAN parties that continue today, the most recent of which was the LAN party during the Mandaue Business Month. Instead of giving us what you believe is your highly educated opinion, do your research ... and the research that has already been done says there is no connection between video games and violent tendencies. DO NOT pass off your and everyone else's bad parenting to those who enjoy gaming. If you insist that gaming is a bad influence, then I suggest you take your kids and forbid them from ever reading books, listening to the radio, watching movies, and of course playing games.

I don't see how you could compare gaming to porn. Do people know how much talent it takes to make games? Have you seen the credits of video games? Do you know how much money it takes to make games? Grand Theft Auto 4 alone cost Rockstar over 100 million dollars and years to make. Porn is done in an afternoon. Don't insult the art because you are too ignorant about it, too misguided to ever read actual facts and too old for all this new fangled type of entertainment. Stay with your violent books and your violent movies.

Like I said ... show me the research that proves your opinion ... and not research with an agenda. Please do.

source: Video game controversy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Some studies have found that video games do not contribute to these problems, while others claim to have established a link.
Several major studies by groups such as The Harvard Medical School Center for Mental Health, The Journal of Adolescent Health, and The British Medical Journal have shown no conclusive link between video game usage and violent activity. However, Kutner and Olson do state "On the other hand, reports of bullying are up ... our research found that certain patterns of video game play were much more likely to be associated with these types of behavioral problems than with major violent crime such as school shootings.
before even bashing this 'research', read the disclaimer on that wikipedia article. i find the results of this issue to be flawed, but lets keep it straight. its either guys will stick on the "dude, it doesn't contribute to violence" thought or the other one.

Seriously, when i saw the guy's post that he was comparing porno to gaming, i was like, WTF. I was about to say the same, but it would be better to correct something wrong about it

EDIT: while reading my posts, i found it to contain alot of ad hominem. im sorry for that.

Even if it does influence, the degree of this influence is trivial compared to the possible bad influence one human being can have over the other...

if they are going to blame video games, why stop there? they might as well blame TV, movies, music, books, etc... You can read/watch/listen to the same kind of violence in those medium.

ok how about this arguement then!...

dont you seem to notice?... the more you play video games the more you become a nerd...

and i think the last person to have a tendency for violence are the nerd ones... well except if u push them too hard theyll loose it and start shooting people...

but really WHO ISNT CAPABLE OF VIOLENCE IF PUSH HARD ENOUGH?

... and for my arguement about the crazy korean kid... he was mentally disturbed even what hes fond doing... he could be watching barney and still be shooting people after that...
