there's something wrong with my E61i's battery

I think there's something wrong with my battery (E61i).
when I restart my phone (shutdown and turn on again), my battery status goes from almost full, to almost empty when it boots up.

It barely lasts a day. I don't do much with it, average of 30 text messages, 15 mins calls, 30 mins WLAN surfing, and that's it. I don't play music, watch videos. Other people report of it lasting at least 3 days of extensive use.
This has been happening a long time ago, even when my phone was still relatively new. I didn't really mind it until now. (It will be 1 year this month, and I want to use the warranty by then before it expires )

Can anyone suggest what I should do?

i think battery warranty is only for 6months tops...
if by any chance you have a friend with extra battery you can test in with...
else buy a new battery but you could be risking that the problem is on the phone not the battery in which case you cant return the new battery.

btw, have you tried upgrading it to the latest firmware...many times that solves problem.
watch what programs you load to the phone, that might affect the battery life.
try a freshly flashed unit for a couple of days before you start loading the programs just to see if the added programs is the cause of the problem.
