im IT grad, and im in a computer science field right now, i can go back to IT/hardware stuff... but i like it here programmers are treated special, and their always an asset to the company...

call center people works on a call center by choice, and not because of their course/grades

@thread starter, you should consider what you love doing and not go by the trend, it will save you lots and lots of frustrations in the end

Be sure to back it up with certifications. IT is technology and you have to be updated at all times.

for those who planned to take IT courses. well, that is good. daghan nata. pero this is what i realized now that im working on my course. I could have taken CS or BSIT instead of CompE. why? parehas ra labas. CS/BSIT 4 yrs ra. CompE 5 yrs naa pa calculus and other engrng subject. i realized bcoz naay mga seniors nako na CS sila pero mgrs &/or dagko ug sweldo sila sa sys/net admin or programming. they only finished college in 4 yrs, ako 5 yrs! But u knw what is the advantage if mag CompE ka?. mas broad ang scope sa mga company na imo ma workan, daghan industry. mao sometimes when company hires, they prefer who undergone engrng.

Its a trade-off between, sayon&dali and lisod pero broad. naa rana nimo ug asa ka ana. nothing to lose if you finish either way. dont be intimidated with difficult subjects. ako di mangko bright, in fact, slow learner ko, pero mo kugi ko ug tuon. Ang course na imo graduatan is just a gateway for you to land a job. But when you are there already, you will be specializing na. sakto na gi ingon ni vanguard, mag pa certify ka, take ka certification exams like sa microsoft, cisco, comptia, and other IT certifications. my 2 cents.

I agree with silent-kill when he said this "you should consider what you love doing and not go by the trend, it will save you lots and lots of frustrations in the end" and with harvsz86 when he said, "walay sayon na course bro, but nindot jud ang IT. daghan og opportunities, you just need to know unsa imo i specialize". You should consider their advice.

IT is great course and IT (not the course, but the field itself) is vast. You can be an animator, a developer/programmer, an analyst, a designer, an administrator and many others. It only depend on the person, what they would like to be. What are their focus. What they want to do.

IT do have math but in my school twas not a major subject, I dunno with other schools. But there's one thing I'd say. IT is more on logic.

IT is a great course and I'm sure you'll have plenty of work options when you graduate. just make sure you do good in school because you'll also be graduating with more than 15K grads every year in the PHIL alone. tsk3x.
