I surmise that you are questioning the validity of the military's decision to engage that specific group of rebels. I have to clarify that I have nothing against the military. They were just doing their jobs. On the other hand, Palang was doing hers [as a medic/nurse for the rebel movement].

Anyway, can you cite any link to a credible source stating that Palang was already an NPA member while she was still a CEGP officer? I'd like to read it.

oh, and before i forget. Her former classmates and friends claimed she was part of a medical mission, as what CHR-7 regional director Alejandro Alonso officially told the media. (No need to name names here. Ask Alonso the names urself, but likely he won't also)

Even before the NPA released a statement confirming Rachelle's membership in the rebel group, CHR was already aware of her association with the NPA.

do u think she became a member during reviewing, studying, and taking the nursing board last May? let's remember that she passed with flying colors.

and do u think the time she became a member was when she went to Negros after she passed the exam? think about it.

(1) her parents knew beforehand that she had joined the NPA. i surmised that "beforehand" was before she went to Negros.

(2) chances are slim that Mae was recruited during her exam review and the actual board exam. she passed w/ flying colors baya...

(3) Ka Dom Pantaleon said that she was there on a "political work". so meaning, that doesn't sound like a neophyte anymore ky niingon unta cya nga she's there to be trained or what. It more sounds like she was already a member before she came to Negros.

I heard them on News, but it has no sufficient evidence that is the work of the AFP or the Arroyo Government, i am no leftist or rightist. I also hate the government for doing nothing over this problem. They just make promises.

Utro pud na ang UN mura ug mga sympathizers sa mga communista. Try for example genocide sa Cambodia under Pol Pot Regime. Even today mura pa na wala nag-start ang trial sa Cambodia genocide.

They're not "leftist personalities." But if we really think about it, Palang's nursing of her armed comrades is a lifetime medical mission considering the ragtag condition those bunch in the mountains are in!

I will not speak for Palang's family and friends, but I think we should at least try to understand her father's earlier denial as a defense mechanism for his sad, sad heart. The poor man. It must be very painful for him. It will take time for reality to set in.

I've read much about the CPP and the NPA in the UP Manila library while finishing my undergraduate course. I recommend Kathleen Weekley's The Communist Party of the Philippines 1968-1993: A story of its theory and practice. However, I'm not sure if they sell that book in your place.

But to the point, from what I've read I believe not all rebels are NPA and not all NPA members are armed or are combatants. They have political officers, medics, reserved troops, militias, and unarmed peasant organizers in the same way that the AFP also has some sort of division of labor in its hierarchy. But armed or not, new or old, they all do political work.
