but food products are far different from goods.

substandard goods wont poison you but will cause damage. while food products being accidentally/deliberately mixed with Melamine can surely kill. So if I were the owner of those food products, would I deliberately mix it with Melamine which would kill or poison thousands of human beings. But for sure, it will kill my business, would I want that to happen to my business?

Believe it or not but unfortunately, yes they do. We may say that some cases were accidentally caused by contaminated plastic containers but some cases are intentional and deliberate. These scammers add water to their milk produce to increase volume output and add melamine to their "watered down milk" to compensate for the protein content lost. So in effect, mo pasar ra sa protein test. Unfortunately for these scammers, nasakspan lang gyud in the end...

Coz melamine is a protein. Same case with that processed luncheon meat and corned beef story. Meaning, they tampered with their products.

In fact, one dairy owner admitted the practice. And some owners of dairy farms in China were already arrested, caught in the act of obtaining a truckload of melamine.

The reality is, some people would go after squeezing more money even if they know is very risky enough for their business. They don't even care sa welfare of their consumers.

yeah i know. That's why it is illegal. their purpose is to increase the protein content in an illegal and fraudulent manner to misled authorities. Sa binisaya pa, "PANGILAD" ba.

here's more facts:

(1) Melamine by itself is nontoxic in low doses, but when combined with cyanuric acid it can cause fatal kidney stones due to the formation of an insoluble melamine cyanurate.

(2) Melamine, classified a controlled substance in China, has been illegally used in the high profile 2008 baby milk scandal case which led to the death of at least 4 infants. On Oct 3, 2008, the U.S. FDA said that up to 2.5 parts per million of melamine was safe for adults, but declined to set a standard for children. The FDA also implied it would not permit the sale of food deliberately adulterated (rather than accidentally contaminated) with melamine.

(3) In Sept 2008, several companies were implicated in a scandal involving milk and infant formula which had been adulterated with melamine, leading to kidney stones and other renal failure, especially among young children. By 22 September, nearly 53,000 people had become ill, with more than 12,800 hospitalizations and four infant deaths.

(4) Melamine may have been added to fool government protein content tests after water was added to fraudulently dilute the milk. Because of melamine's high nitrogen content, it can cause the protein content of food to appear higher than the true value. Officials estimate that about 20 percent of the dairy companies tested in China sell products tainted with melamine.

(5) BEIJING 10/6/08- Authorities have detained six more people in China's contaminated milk scandal, officials said Monday, as the government continued its efforts to restore public trust in Chinese-made food products.

hain naman tong mga made in germany, japan og USA oi? halos tanang butang pulos naman made in china! nasubrahan na tingali na ilang labor didto kay sila namay himo tanan mao na nga wala nay quality.. kasuway pud kog palit og motor sa una nga china brand, pastilan kadali nangadaut sa mga plastic nga dapat unya ang rim naka agi lag libaong na lumping dayon
