With simple belongings wrapped and placed atop their heads and in their backpacks, women and children refugees of war-torn Andap Valley, Surigao del Sur in southern Philippines return to their villages after spending three weeks in evacuation centers. War refugees in several towns found their villages looted and property destroyed – they said – by government troops supposedly hot on the heels of guerrillas. For now peace has returned to their villages where they used to enjoy normal lives until 11 truckloads of soldiers came.

The Philippine public health system is on the brink of death, with the government spending less than a peso for the health of every Filipino each day while up to 50 percent of the national budget is automatically earmarked as payment for onerous debts. Result: doctors, nurses and other health professionals, working for low wages in hospitals with substandard facilities, have been fleeing the country in droves in search of greener pastures. The worst affected, in the end, are the people, who are deprived of adequate health care – a basic social right.

Honestly I'm proud to live in the Philippines,,,,,,,but bieng a filipino.....mahirap kasi nga we are known with different negative traits and bahavior.....like in Taiwan pag naliligo sila sa common SPA pag may nakita silang pinoy magmamadali sila sa pagligpit ng kanilang gamit kasi daw may mawawala pag may pinoy.....ano bayan?.....and we are named to be corrupt.....and the best immitator.....lumalabas tuloy na trying hard......and last is masyadong magulo ang utak, maraming critics, wala namang ma e suggest na tamang solusyon sa problema....and the TALANGKA MENTALITY.....hindi puwedeng ma angatan ng iba.....

K. So your concept is that the definitive identity of the filipinos is their accent while they speak english...Eh eh, so just add the fact rice can be bought in filipino Mac Donald's, that should be also part of national pride!!!

Yeah man, that's pure identity!!!

It was worth making a revolution for that, really, even if filipino-american war cost more than 1 million dead among the civilians...a detail...Don't you think so?

P.S. : sorry but the country you are refering to is not called "philippines", officially its name is "Pilipinas".

P.S.2 : I noticed you didn't comment the rizal's quote. Perhaps you think he was merely an ignorant : as a matter of fact it seems he hadn't been able to write in english, what a shame !

Â* I didnt add anything regarding our accent as identity but a proven fact . Even the best speakers out there like Martin Nievera etc has accent you can be mocking all day but impresses the Amrecians to a level they thought is impossible for FIlipinos to achieve .

Yeah man, that's pure identity!!!
Â* Yes it is an identity ... a part of the big picture . You want another identity sa Filipinos ?

- Mo bless sa ilang ginikanan bisan naa na sila sa US gihapon ug bisan mga dagko na ang mga anak .

Â* You were basing it maybe from the english speaking cashier and the old woman who can speak english .... LITERACY problems are ringing the bells kay natug sa pansitan or unfortunate enough to go get an education but not a reason enough because napa-ulawan ang di kamao mo english .... mo resort to something to keep our image being GUNGHO FILIPINOS thru speaking only TAGALOG and DIALECTS .

P.S. : sorry but the country you are refering to is not called "philippines", officially its name is "Pilipinas".
Walay ni argue sa official name niya .... it is a matter of embracing ur identity ENGLSIH SPEAKING or NOT .

P.S.2 : I noticed you didn't comment the rizal's quote. Perhaps you think he was merely an ignorant : as a matter of fact it seems he hadn't been able to write in english, what a shame !
Â* Â*It is not even a matter of speaking english for Rizal because mo contradict sa iyang gi quote ang iyang gigamit na language . Kani bitaw usahay sentido komon atong gamiton unta ba . BTW ... look at RIZAL ... di man gani na siya pure Pinoy but he embraced the FIlipino identity .... it is not a matter what you say and what you do but embracing the values , traditions , etc as FIlipinos .

God Bless United Islands of Filipica.
Â* Abi nako official anme kay PILIPINAS .
