unsay objective sa TS w his title? are u asking if we agree or disagree sa enumerated statement/slogans?
broad kau ang subject matter,so its difficult to agree or disagree..but para nako ang difference namong poor from rich well depende unsang aspect atong hisgutan...somebody here said rich are materialistic, being materialistic can be seen in both rich and poor people depends na sa lifestyle sa tawo...others said rich people think big,so are poor people they think big man sab,as to achieving their big goals it boils down to the individual's capability, hard work, perseverance combine w gud luck and timing...i as a poor person resent the rich cos they have all material things they need and want, comfortable living and their privilege to go on holiday trips...now i realized that i should not envy them instead be inspired of what they have achieved...

a note lang, dont blame us poor for being poor kay oftentimes its not that easy to climb the ladder of success...katong nag-ingon ngari na mga pobre dli mu-cooperate sa community, that is true but dli sab tanan.depende jud na sa tawo na atong hisgutan.bottom line ani usu gud poor is most vulnerable to exploitation and abuse thus hindering self-improvement.

and lastly, defining rich or poor is subjective. i may consider myself rich even if i dont have a car or mansion but having only what my family needs. a businessman may say he is poor cos his venture operates on bank loans and mortgages...

sa mga rich istoryans, how can u help a poor istoryan realize her big dream?

    PEACE to all!

Grabe kaau kag reaction bro. Let me address some of your concerns.

    1. Rich are Professionals.
    - Ok bro, I know unsa na ang professionals and I know that they are freaking wealthy. Really rich. But not all rich people are professionals. And as you said "mao bitaw datu na cla ky dagko kaayog sweldo unya DAGKO SAB NAG RESPONSIBILITIES/PROBLEMA ", you seem to still confuse Rich and Middle class. As long as you are working and relying on your income and nothing more you are not truly rich. I know a lot of people who are earning 6 digit income and are not rich.

    2. Working,
    - Yes bro, I am working. I know na some company owners are really rich and also know some company owners na just in "Middle Class". So halos taga buwan naay new car? Yes this is middle class mindset. Imagine if their business is going really well and every month they are buying more liabilities.. Do you think that this will eventually turn out good? Some really rich people do have a lot of nice cars because they can afford it (cash even) and they buy enough.

I was also talking about mindset and not the actual people. please understand what i was talking about. People who have middle class mindset and are earning 6-digit income or more will always remain in middle class cause they will always buy liabilities. People with the "Wealthy Mindset", no matter what will buy assets.

    3. Simple rich people.
    - Yes bro, majority of the rich people are simple in their own way. Simple house, etc. They are not really materialistic but they appear materialistic to us because they can afford the things we can't. Truly materialistic people tend to buy thing even though they can no longer afford as long as they will look "rich". There is a difference between "The Truly Wealthy", "The Wealthy", and the "Looking Wealthy".

    4. The Marcos
    - Yes bro you are right. The Marcos belongs to the "Wealthy" category. Just put it this way. If you were materialistic before you became rich they you will be materialistic when you get rich. If you were not materialistic before, then chances are you will not be materialistic when the money comes.

Also the same as when you are a jerk before you became rich, you will be a rich jerk when you have money. Again for really nice people who became rich, they become nice rich people.

"..Bo, you’re wrong. Poverty is a matter of fate…”

He came up to me right after I gave a talk on financial literacy. The man spoke to me with the gravity of a Supreme Court Justice, it scared me.

“Why do you say that, sir?” I asked.

“Because there are people who are born poor,” the man said, “And there are people who are born rich. That’s destiny. That’s the will of God.”

I winced. How could I tell him that I’ve been working for years (no, decades) with the poor—and this was the exact kind of distorted thinking that has trapped a lot of people in poverty. “God made me poor,” is an invisible placard written on the foreheads of many poor people I’ve met.

I told him, “To be born rich or poor is not a choice, that’s true. But to become rich or poor—that’s a choice that God leaves up to us.”

He looked at me as though I spoke in Swahili.

I wanted to explain myself but he wanted to ask me a very disturbing question…

God Leaves The Choice To Us

Whether To Be Rich Or Poor

“Bo, why are you teaching us to become rich?”

His tone of voice was sharp. Like he was asking me, “Why are you teaching us to murder people, burn their bodies, and eat their liver?”

He continued, “If you’re really a Christian, you should teach us to be content with where we are. Bo, aren’t you content with where you are?”

I laughed. “Oh, I’m very content.”

I never told this to him, but I’d like to tell you: Right now, if I choose to, I can stop working, deposit my money in a bank—and live on the interest. Sure, I have to simplify my lifestyle even further, but we’ll still be very comfortable.

With the interest I’ll earn from the bank, I can maintain my small house and simple car.

And yes, I can still bring out my wife for our weekly romantic dates.

And I can still bring my kids for our twice-a-year vacations. No more Macau trips, that’s for sure. But Tagaytay would be just fine.

I can even pay for our homeowner’s association dues. (A whopping P120 a month! Yes, I live in a happy third class subdivision.)

But if I stop working and live on my interest, a few things will have to change…

    Life Isn’t Just About You

Today, I send a number of poor children to school. That has to stop.

Today, I finance a few missionaries. That has to stop.

Today, I provide capital for livelihood projects for the poor. That has to stop.

Today, I finance my new ministry projects in its trial period. That has to stop.

This is the reason why I’ve chosen to grow, to expand, to increase, and to become richer because I want to bless the world more.

That’s why I work very hard today!

Here’s what I learned: (1) To be content and (2) to want to grow can co-exist in your heart.

That can only happen when love rules your heart.
