you only need to update your bios, i had installed a 40gb hd in a PII 400mhz pc without any problem.

sure wala'y problema imo hard disk, bro? at times if naay error imo boot sector di gyud na cya madetect. The bios reads gyud the first sector sa imo hard disk. anyway, the best u can do is upgrade gyud imo bios. but try sad kuno listening to the sound of the hard disk. once mga makanotice ka nga naay murag scratchy sound, then naa gyud problema. I hope lng nga dili ingon ani.
Upgrade lng gyud your bios bro. best move you can make. ug dili gyud, try other things suggested. if naay problema gyud imo hard disk, pm me. may be i can help.
