    Hi Everyone,

I've been here in Australia for 2 years now. A relative sponsored me and the processing time was less than a year. If you got a blood relative here (not aunt in laws, etc), then that would open up a door for you.

I worked in the Phils as a Human Resources Assistant. I used a migration agent in my immigration process simply because I didn't have time to do everything and I was willing to spend as well, for peace of mind. My other friend who tried to do it himself didn't research well enough and failed the first step, Vetasses (educational assessment) which he could have easily passed cos we got similar qualifications. Anyway, my agent told me that to qualify, you'd need to have worked for at least 12 months in a role that involves decision-making, even if it's just a clerical job like what I had. As long as it looks like you actually do some thinking in your job, then you might have good chances.

My current housemates are also from Cebu. Their case is different. They were Engineers in a multinational company in MEPZ and they just applied at SEEK - Australia's no. 1 jobs, employment, career and recruitment site for Engineering jobs here in Melbourne. They had phone interviews and next thing you know, they're already working for Ford and Holden (GM) and can even qualify for a permanent resident visa after a year (which includes their families).

My point is, if you are a professional with a pretty good work experience on your CV, then research a lot about immigrating to Australia through Department of Immigration and Citizenship. I've read in a major newspaper a few weeks ago that Engineering, Nursing, Accounting and even IT professionals have good chances (not to mention Dentistry). If you are serious about immigrating here, I'd be glad to answer questions if you pm me Otherwise, good luck and hope to see you here someday!

If you are interested read their website. It's very informative and I think all your questions will be answered there. It will spare you of the huge professional fees collected by agencies.

Just to share a lil that I know if planning to migrate you should : (applies to SKILLED IMMIGRANTS)
Check if your occupation is in the MODL list ( in demand list) .
    Gather all the requirements/documents needed.
Have your degree assessed by an assessing body in OZ.
    Take the IELTS.
If you get a favorable assessment and a good overall bandscore for your IELTS and you can get 120 pts all in all ... you can lodge your application.. then patiently wait for your visa grant.

You'll just spend for the following:

documentation - TOR, Birth certificate, Diploma etc.
    IELTS - P 8,000 +
Assessment of your degree- depends sa assessing body
VISA - 2105 AUD more or less 80k
    Physical exam
    Plane Ticket

Mao ra man cguro...got this from a friend who has gone through the process all by herself. heheh. Get more infos HERE
