we ended up with Lamesa Grill (in SM / very prompt cust service despite the sunday lunch rush hour) and Golden Cowrie (in Lahug / good food, good price) the following day

you should have tried Cafe Laguna or Chika-an... they both serve good Filipino food and are reasonably priced, they also have a function room available if you want to keep the party private...

In terms of taste, La mesa grill is just an average filipino restaurant. Golden Cowrie is one of the oldest filipino restaurant in cebu, but their food is on the oily side. Chikaan would be better. Pino is kinda expensive for its taste, as you have to consider the ambience. Cafe laguna is ok, but their food lacks that certain pizazz as far as distinctive filipino taste is concerned. If eat all you can is your preference, you could have tried Cafe Ysabel, Port, or Tong's, in that order of preference.
