If you want to deal with MySQL and PHP u need to install this following..

1. mysql-connector-odbc-3.51.12-win32
2. MySQL-5.0 - any version you want..
3. mysql-gui-tools-5.0-r9a-win32 - for Query browser and administrator..

if you really wan to lean, web development, with php/mysql, try downloading XAMPP( search in google ) it's quite complete. It has Apache Web Server, MySQL and PHP for you to develop web applications that uses MySQL.

I've been using it for years now for web development (and mga freelance) and it never failed me.
