You don't need IAFT!

All you need is a camcorder with a DV terminal and a PC with a Gigabyte chomping drive, those are the 2 basic things you need to get a film done. Coupled with knowledge you can acquire for FREE on the internet. IAFT is bankrupt! ;-b

We also need the hands-on experience of the many people who have been there. For example, do we know this much that a shoot can go on more smoothly if there are available chairs around ther set? And, if we add to this situation, a cofeemaker nearby continously brewing coffee, all the more we can rev up the energy when shoots start sliding on the downside? I here assume that IAFT has both the experience and the cofeemaker.

If y'all are looking for a guide and inspiration as a budding filmmaker, hunt down a copy of Robert Rodriguez's "Rebel Without A Crew". Now here's a dude with a unique vision and the skills to back it up. From writing, directing, shooting, editing, and scoring, he can do it all.

He couldn't afford to go to film school but went ahead and made movies. He's the darling of Hollywood producers because he can turn in a blockbuster movie for the price of Armageddon's sandwich budget. How? By being a one-man film crew. This dude is an inspiration and he rocks!!!

in a magazine I read, he says that those who are anti-digital are pretentious and masochistic and so then he boasts about his abundant output, I mean we should admit it he is fast, Sin City, Lava Girl right?? all in the same year...

and last year Spy Kids 3 and Mexico... all because he's going digital.

He worked on Once upon a time in Mexico and Spy Kids simultaneously. I guess he did the same with Sharkboy and Sin City. It helped that he worked on both in his own Troublemaker Studios, which is packed with the latest digital toys available.

Despite being an advocate of the digital medium, the guy is adept at shooting with film and editing on flatbeds the old school way.

Rodriguez is representative of the new school of filmmakers embracing digital technology for its increased workflow and cost efficiency. The days of film are numbered.

Well, that's how he shot El Mariachi... maayo sad daw siya og analog editing as he used to cut his short films a long time ago on his home VCR...

Yeah read about that too. He used two VCRs to edit his early movies. The problem was the PAUSE button of the VCRs disengaged after a few minutes so he didn't have much time to cut in the subsequent scenes. It was like a DJ spinning records. Thats how he learned to be FAST.
