brakes and sudden engine stalling on some fortuners are already resolve as of mid 2006 or 2007.

Mao nay gi ingon walay perfect. wala sad me ni ingon na kami ra reliable, wer one of the reliable car makers. The cause of all of the above is not due to the commonrail, its due to the fuel pump. Of course daghan gyud me reklamo kay daghan man sad me halin. mao wala kaayo reklamo sa uban brands kay gamay raman sad ilang halin. dili man ta maayo mo brag pro i think u nid it. Pag 2007 Toyota was 1st in the market with almost 40% share next is Honda with almost 20% market share and so on and wer nearly No1 in the wolrd. dili ka ma No1 for nothing. with different culture, climate, taste, etc.. we beat all brands around the world.
ngano lagi sige hambog ni si predo... durable and reliable....
murag wako kasabot unsa iya pasabot reliable...
bitaw sakto ka bro until 2008 may napa gihapon nag reklamo sa tsikot about her/his innova nga nikalit kamatay while driving
wow suyaa nako ani oe First drive: 2008 Montero Sport

@ AJOL ....
Toyota may lack FEATURES in its AUDIO SYSTEM but it doesnt necessarily mean its CHEAP as to how you interpreted it . What did you own before from MITSUBISHI ? We have both '04 Limited and Sports from Montero ( location in US ) like what you said , we should have bought a Toyota pero bali ang imoha . We should have instead got a 4Runner and a Sequioa pero OT na ni . Wala mi nagmahay sa MItsu but Toyota could have been better .
Luxury in models doesnt end up in CAR AUDIO . The price doesnt end up in NEW MODELS . The satisfaction doesnt end up in who has more recalls from the factory . BTW .... TSIKOT.COM ? C'mon ! Its not an official website where it can vouch every detail shelled out for verification . Propaganda ra dong , member ka didto ? I stop posting there about 8 years ago . Kami nila KIMPOY ug OTEP nag pioneering ana TSIKOT.COM since mga renegade mi sa una sa KOTSE.COM tungod kay bulabog na kaau didto . ANyays .... since you want to use TSIKOT.COM as a medium , heres one for the latest updates :

go for montero..
Wow... i thought this thread was dead already.
Finally... ni ingon na gyud si ajol nga fujitsu ten ang stereo... crappy one according to him.... so the random button doesn't work properly... Toyota/Fujitsu-Ten should fix that. Anyone with the stock car stereo being the primary consideration for purchasing a Car should buy the Montero instead of the Fortuner.
With regards to car stereos looking plain and ugly...car manufacturers want a seamless design that integrates into the interior of the vehicles. The large buttons are intended to make the user interface easier to use so the driver will spend more time looking at the road than fiddling around with the stereo settings. Most car manufacturers have already adopted this simple/seamless look.
Just look at the flagship models of car manufacturers... (Accord, Camry, Galant, Alterra).
Hopefully this audio system issue will be put to rest... cause sige lang balik balik ang storya bahin ani.... Simplicity is the "new look" for car stereos these days.. whether the end user likes it or not.. that's where the industry is headed... I guess they have safety as the primary consideration for the design change.... you can always mod your stereo should you want a more sophisticated look.
Any other criteria to compare the two vehicles apart from an accessory like the car stereo?
Anyhow.... regarding the common rail engine sa toyota and mitsubishi....
basing sa power figures and torque curve... the 3.0L engine on the fortuner has almost the same output as a the 3.2L on the montero... based on efficiency, I wouldn't place mitsu's diesel engine on the same level as toyota's.... maybe #1 ang Isuzu, #2 ang toyota... then #3 ang mitsu
O.T. regarding diesel engine.... has anyone noticed nga medyo aso ang diesel engine sa isuzu specifically sa Crosswind?
Everytime I get behind a crosswind unya mu bulhot.. .permi man mu aso... Anyone experienced this? Maybe wala rasad to'y maintenance ang crosswind. Pero in fairness to Isuzu, I also heard mas fuel efficient ilang diesel engine compared to the others.

Here's my take on this... on my point of view diri sa U.S. lang ha kay I've only been to Cebu for 1 month (total duration) for the last 15 years.
Mitsubishi has been using low grade plastics on their cars. They have the WORST resale value amongst japanese cars diri. They also rank the lowest sa sales... even lower than MAZDA. Sad part is, even HYUNDAI is selling better than Mitsubishi these days.
Now, I've always thought TOYOTA vehicles are well made. I've had a total of 4 Toyota vehicles for the past 15 years (MR2, SUPRA, CAMRY, 4RUNNER) and I've never had any complaints.. EVEN ON THEIR STOCK STEREO SYSTEM - and believe me, I AM AN AUDIOPHILE (car audio enthusiast). Besides from personal experience, kapila man na voted ang TOYOTA CAMRY as the CAR OF THE YEAR by MOTOR TREND?? They hold more prestige than TSIKOT.COM, right?
About the Montero Sport - When the first time they came out sa here sa amo, they were selling fast tungod nindot ug porma, A friend of mine bought one and I actually almost did as well pero I chose the 4 Runner instead. Pero 4 years later, I traded mine for a Pathfinder and taas gihapon ug trade-in value.. my friend's Montero, gi trade in niya ang Montero for after 5 years, kabalo ka pila ang trade-in value? Gi dawat ra ug $7,000!!! That's a 5 yr. old car originally bought for $28k!!.
Karon, ug mo tan-aw kag used Montero Sport sa Autotrader.com kanang mga 2004 model, diba all of them are less than half their value.. mas mobo pa gyud ana ang trade-in value ini trade nimo sa dealer.
Pero kana lang, diri na sa U.S. - I don't know how it is sa Cebu.

By the way, here's a list of some of the recalls made on the Montero Sport.
1. Defect: ON CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS FULL AND THE VEHICLE IS PARKED FORWARD ON AN UPWARD SLOPE, THE FUEL TANK LEVELING VALVE MAY NOT MAINTAIN PROPER SEALING IN THE EVENT THE FUEL EXPANDS FROM THE RISE IN AMBIENT TEMPERATURE.
Consequence: IF THE FUEL LEVELING VALVE DOES NOT SEAL PROPERLY, FUEL MAY LEAK ONTO THE GROUND. FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE MAY RESULT IN A FIRE.
2.Defect: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES. THE ACCUMULATOR THAT IS INSTALLED ON THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE BOOSTER MAY HAVE BEEN IMPROPERLY MANUFACTURED. OVER A PERIOD OF TIME, THIS COULD RESULT IN LEAKAGE OF THE PRESSURIZED NITROGEN GAS FROM INSIDE THE ACCUMULATOR.
Consequence: THE LOSS OF THIS GAS PRESSURE COULD RESULT IN AN ABNORMAL NOISE FROM THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DASH PANEL WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED, AND POSSIBLY A DELAYED FIRST TIME BRAKE BOOST ASSIST AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED FOR A PERIOD OF TIME, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
3 Defect: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES. THE FRONT BRAKE LINES CAN DEVELOP PIN HOLES DUE TO CHAFFING AGAINST THE EDGE OF THE PASS-THROUGH HOLE IN THE INNER FENDER.
Consequence: BRAKE FLUID CAN LEAK RESULTING IN DETERIORATED BRAKING PERFORMANCE AND ILLUMINATION OF THE BRAKE INDICATOR LAMP.
4. Defect: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES: MIRAGE MODEL VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 1.5L ENGINES; MONTERO SPORT MODELS EQUIPPED WITH 3.0L ENGINES; AND MONTERO MODELS EQUIPPED WITH 3.0L ENGINES. THE BOLT SECURING THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY CAN BECOME LOOSE AND THE PULLEY COULD FALL OFF THE VEHICLE.
Consequence: THE CONDITION CAN RESULT IN A LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Why pamper life's complexities when the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat?
Regarding the engine used by Isuzu Crosswind, those engines are not common rail tech yet. The CRDi engine of Isuzu are the Dmax and Alterra.
Regarding diesel engines used by different car makers: 1. Hyundai 2. Isuzu 3. Mits 4. Toyota
The power figures of the facelift Fortuner and Montero Sport are almost the same. But they differ on the drivetrain(gears) used by each manufacturer on the models. That is why the Fortuner is much heavier when you accelerate compared to using a Montero Sport. Book/schedule for a test drive among different car makers of their diesel powered SUV's and you'll know the difference (Isuzu Alterra, Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento, Ford Everest, Mits Montero, and Toyota Fortuner). Toyota diesel engines are the heaviest to accelerate.
Regarding fuel efficiency, the 3.0L D4D Fortuner runs 6 to 8 Km/L. While the Montero uses same engine used in the "Pajero (which runs 6 to 7 Km/L)" which is a 3.2L DiD engine runs 7 to 9 Km/L. These are based on cebu like traffic.
