i believe that science itself does not contradict the scriptures, science was / is used to proved the claims of the bible. it is also used to cleans people from superstitions. while religion is used for ethics in science and remind us that sometimes there are no absolute.

I hope so... for our sake.

If these science men are here... there will always be contradictions and skepticisms.

Science will keep on improving without religion. Of course there are moral and ethics but that doesn't mean they have to stop improving our lives. Science will not go back but forward... you can learn from the past but that doesn't mean you have to live what is past and stay stick with it. What religion is doing now? Adopt what science is doing. Technological advancement where religion don't have.

^I agree. Like coming up with the 'intelligent design' theory to combat Darwin's theory of evolution.

NOMA. Non-opposing Magisteria. Science and Religion do not contradict each other. both categories belong to different realms. So no. Scientific progress does not make Religion, in general, Obsolete.

    back to the topic...

can't answer a yes or no...

science wa kaabot sa kumingking sa existence sa belief sa usa ka tawo to God
That's possible. I mean anything can be possible. And the history of science has taught us that not all the things our religion teaches us are true. So, there's a big possibility that what our religion has taught us about God, is just a big cover up of mankind's ignorance of the universe.

    What do you think?

    Your ideas?
Well, as long as science cannot provide mankind with replacement to what religion has in it's shelves, religion will here to stay. Religion gives man his existential meaning as an individual for instance.

One can of course answer that by taking a part in mankind's march to progress is the meaning of one's existence- a cog in the wheel.

But in my case, I just could'nt accept the 'fact' that I am just like that- cog in the wheel. I believe that I am more than that, that I am somebody, that I am distined for something greater that what I have at this present, that I deserved something wonderful even without knowing what it is. It's a gut feeling, no matter how I try to shake myself out of it, I just can't seem to rid myself from that conviction.

Religion offers us the chance to hold on to that thought and hope.

Perhaps, I am in denial, I can accept that (so need to make an issue out of it).

So what consolation thus can I find in science?

So what consolation thus can I find in science?

    Consolation: Relief, support, comfort, solace...

Interesting question. As for me, there are hundreds of answers I can think of. I just have to give you few. Science has brought us 3 basic needs... food, clothing and shelter. Science gave us education on different areas of study. Science has brought you in this world from you mother's womb. Science can cure your sickness. Science can support people from being disabled. The bed you're sleeping... the car you drive to and from... the things that your "magic box" (tv) gives you information. As of right now, you find solace by reading the posts in Istorya.net. Need I say more?

Bible or religion and science will always be on same sides. no need to elaborate.
