We're actually hoping nga mahitabo ang next ACE trekking inig ka 20th of this month, But alainphilip of piper's petshop still needs to verify with the guides kung available ba sila anang adlawa. Hopefully maka kuyog unta ang wala kakuyog sa previous nga trekking.

Ang destination nato is Budlaan. When Alain, Joey and I went there, the water was a bit cloudy kay ga uwan2x man gud days before we got there. But we enjoyed it a lot kay aside from the fact nga limpyo ang lugar, naay more or less 4 ka water falls ang amung naagian. The locals there said nga naa kunoy puyo, pantat, kasili ug uban pa, they even said that there are shrimps but talagsaun nalang kuno. We have seen a green garter snake and i also took an injured brown snake home.
I really hope ma dayon nig 20. Na busy man sad gud si Alain sa shop nila. Wait lang ta sa iyang update.

    Hello Acers

I have always been a fan of toothcarps. As a matter of fact my first fish are guppies, they have always been a reminder of how facinated i was with the aquatic world when i was young. When i was in 3rd grade i bought a pair of blonde guppies for 1 peso, mao raman gyud akong ma afford ( pagkalouy intawn sa bata). This is my two cents for the guppies and all of the toothcarps.......

Cyprinodontiformes are also known as toothcarps, they are dubbed to be survival artists because most of them are adaptable to new environment, as a matter of fact the common gambusia affinis and/or poecilia reticulata ( wild guppy ), locally known as "isda sa sapa" or "rainbow" are introduced almost worldwide because of such adaptability. Killifishes have also earned such reputation since they can exist even on temporary bodies of water or pools in some parts of africa, some of them are annual killies since they will die out when the dry season comes, their eggs which are burried in mud, will hatch in the onset of the next rainy season. Breeding killies aren't hard, they can be bred in an aquarium with mud and once the the eggs are deposited and fertilized, you can then remove the breeding pair and carefully empty the tankwater without disturbing the mud, let the mud dry and then add water, the water will trigger the eggs to hatch.

    Toothcarps

    Live-bearing toothcarps
guppy, molly, platy, swordtail, dwarf livebearer and etc.

WILD GUPPY - An introduced species in the philippines. A few other related species were also used to control mosquito larvae.

FANCY GUPY - Paborito ni smalltime guppy.

ENDLER'S GUPPY - There are a few varieties of endler's, and most of them are costly.

RED "MICKEY MOUSE" PLATY - Sometimes mislabelled as ballon mollies in manalili, but displays a huge difference.

    Egg-laying toothcarps
Killifish, nothobranch, panchax, pearlfish, american flagfish and etc.

BLUE PANCHAX KILLIFISH - A native philippine species. hopefully we will encounter this in one of our future trekkings.

LYRETAIL KILLIFISH - One of the longer living Killies with a lifespan of 3 years.

RACHOW'S NOTHOBRANCH - A brilliantly colored notho, which is best kept in a community tank of small peaceful inhabitants.

AMERICAN FLAGFISH - This is a very nice species, i use to see these sold at Piper's, but i have not been able to due to lack of space.

    NOTE:

Rainbowfishes are not toothcarps, they belong to a family of their own. Rainbowfishes have a split fin design on their dorsal fin which distinguished them from toothcarps

    Here are some rainbow species:

BOESEMAN'S RAINBOWFISH - One of the most popular rainbowfish.

WESTERN RAINBOWFISH - The species name of this rainbowfish is australis and not trifaciata.

BANDED RAINBOWFISH - This is the real trifaciata species. I have not been able to see these in cebu yet.

THREADFIN RAINBOWFISHES - I have a few of these but are all eaten by my panchax.
