actually, last september's EB wasn't the most successful EB in istorya.net's history. It was a concert for a cause that was the most successful EB held about a year ago in Handuraw. And it was ORGANIZED BY THE MODS. around 100+ members attended the concert and the place was overflowing with istoryan members.

it was from September EB... you don't expect people to read the September eB post #917 before reading the October EB...

anyways it's been done and there's no point in arguing with you... and lets see nalang if this October eb will push through... maybe i will change my mind...

there is actually no need to "warn" people against OT's or what not because that rule (Forum Rules #4) is explicitly displayed Globally. if my memory serves me right, EVERYBODY and that includes admins, mods & members were asked to agree and accept the Forum Rules again last week. the acceptance of that agreement signifies that EVERYBODY have read and understood the rules. if y'all wanted to be "warned" beforehand, then the TEMPORARY closure serves the same purpose.

besides, the mods instruction was short and concise:

"Just PM me or any mod if you have choices set then we will unlock this and you can modify the thread."

what's so dramatic about that phrase that everyone misunderstood it and mistook it as if it's already the end of the world??

if you only knew how lenient the admins and the mods have been with that specific thread. here's the "Local Forum Rules" on the Parties & Events Forum:

Here's my little take on this whole situation. I hope you won't mind if I'd post my few cents worth.

Anyway, a simple request via PM would have made a big difference on how this situation developed. Time and again, mod bashing will not get you anywhere. If you want to be understood, you also need to understand. Understanding is a 2-way street.

While we are happy that you are taking the initiative to encourage gatherings, that cannot be used as a reason to be exempt from the rules. Rules are rules, even mods are bound by rules.

But I guess rules are rules... normal members against mods.... Obviously the winner is...... Yah.. hands up naku ninyo mods.... Maau kaau moh english but naaah.... I don't think you're better than us in all aspects..

what's so bad about having a thread closed? it's not the end of the world. trust me, i've seen worse than that. you guys can PM each others' numbers and talk about where to meet. like Beor said, bashing mods won't get you nowhere. it's basically just a waste of time if you complain.

use your time wisely. instead of posting here to complain, why not PM other members instead and negotiate on what to do?

dili man cguro ni contest panindotay ug EB ato-a diri. Ang importante is magka tapok2x ang mga istoryans ug mag enjoy tanan.. dili jud malikayan naay mga "kasag" kay pinoy gud, pero dedma na lang, dili ta dapat ma-discourage. Mas maayo untag mo-suporta ug mo-tambong ang tanan kung makahigayon bahalag bongga or pinobre lang atong EB. no single reason to argue about it. after all, we are all iSTORYANs here.

Anyways, mga party pipz adto na ta sa Parties & Events, nag buhat nag ug Poll si mam Galadriel. Botar na lang mo didto, that would be your first step for the October EB to push through.

as BeoR said and as i have posted in the past. Inform the mods and admins about your plans, and if we agree to help then we will see to it that everything goes well and successful. However, we do not rush into things.

large scale EB's are organized months ahead since it will take time to promote the event and make sure that logistics are in order. of course we also seek sponsors for the event to liven things up.
