Nobody ever mentioned Homeworld and Homeworld 2. If you ever wish to see epic space battles, this is your chance. I hope LucasArts could make a StarWars strategy game as good as this.

Civ and XCOM! Thanks for mentioning these classics. These are old DOS games that can literally suck up your waking hours just to outlast your AI opponents. One of the main reasons why I got interested in computers was to play those games in the old 386/486 era of computers.
