it is just like saying 'give back the land to the Aetas" or "give back the land to Datu Lapu2x", or something like that. History is past. Yes, it is also important to look back once in awhile but the only way to peace is looking forward. IMHO, i favor the change of heart of the MNLF to agree to ARMM, a peaceful solution. I know the break away of some of their members forming a separatist MILF, but look how they behave themselves nowadays. Killing civilians and burning their houses is not in any way "civilized". It's not also in any way a standard for RULES OF ENGAGEMENT.
Ancestral domain is securing the rights of the "lumads". Lumads refer to indigenous people, not only Muslims but also other ethnic groups here like the Bagobos and Tbolis. It is nowhere in this description to make ancestral domains separate from the Philippines. Heck, for all we know, these Muslim separatists claiming to be "lumads" could have been migrants from nearby Malaysia...besides, who are still "lumads" nowadays huh?
Mao btaw gihimo ang ARMM to acknowledge ancestral domain in some way. Sorry to say this but i think this separatist cause they are waving about is very much tainted with opportunism, discrimination, indifference, and SELFISHNESS.
i know that in some way the Muslim people in Mindanao have been marginalized but it is the same story with the rest of the country. BUT IT IS IMPORTANT to decipher between marginalized by religion or ethnicity. Basing on ethnicity is deemed proper. But on religion? I don't think so. Our Constitution has no religion.
Ethnic tribes in Luzon were marginalized. Aetas in Samar were too. The point is, we are no longer living in ethnic clusters. We are living in a globalized arena where Caucasians cross w/ Asians to bear mestizo kids. Take a look for example in the U.S.. It is a melting pot of all races. Even the whites now are the ones marginalized by Latin-Americans, Italian-Americans, Afro-Americans, Asian-Americans, etc...Take a look at Hongkong. Take a look at Malaysia, India, or Singapore. They've progressed coz they have set aside ethnic differences and worked together forward. NOT BACKWARD.
If these rebels disown the Phil. gov't and saying Moroland shouldn't be part of the country in the first place, then they are not fit to be called FILIPINOS. Heck, they even shouldn't be fans of FPJ or Pacquiao.
