Just to give some idea as to how good this Ricky Rubio is, here's some stats during the FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship held last August 2006.

1.) In the entire tournament, excluding the championship game, Rubio tallied 2 triple-doubles and 1 quadruple-double.

2.) Here's more, in the finals, a 110-106 double overtime win over Russia, Rubio finished the game with 51 points, 24 rebounds, 12 assists, and 7 steals.

3.) Rubio led the tournament in points, rebounds, assists, and steals.

4.) And lastly, 15 years old at that...

And not to mention he was named as the MVP in the said tourney. I guess it's already an understatement.

    Here's more:

Rubio is the youngest player to ever play in the Spanish ACB League, a league considered by some as the top domestic league in Europe. He joined the league on October 15, 2005, just 6 days away from his 15th birthday making him 14 years and 359 days old officially in joining such league.

Rubio is playing point guard for Joventut Badalona in ACB and Euroleague, a league regarded as the top professional club annual basketball association outside the NBA.

And for those who are wondering why we haven't heard much from Rubio? Rubio is strongly protected by his family from media attention that he won't be available for interviews until he turns 18.

Rubio was featured in SLAM Magazine in 2007 and the author noted that he's the best non-NBA player in the world and even compared Rubio to Earvin "Magic" Johnson.

Think he's only good at the U-16? Rubio led the Euroleague regular season in steals for the 2006-07 season with 3.2 steals and playing for only 19 minutes per game.

And of course, not a lot of 17-year olds can make it to their nation's men's senior national team and play major minutes and contribute significantly, not even LeBron James nor Kobe Bryant was able to do that in their teens. And not to mention that Spain is loaded with top quality and world class guards in Jose Calderon, Rudy Fernandez, Juan Carlos Navarro, and Raul Lopez with whom Rubio has to share playing time with.

2008 Olympics. Ricky Rubio ranked 5th overall in steals along with Dwyane Wade and Chris Paul with 2.2 steals per game. Not a really a bad company to be with in the stats sheets. Rubio is averaging 4.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists so far in 6 games.
