MILF is a mere group of bandits/crooks. Some members are just teenagers who probably were recruited, may it by force, sympathy, religion-sake, influenced by relatives, or for whatever reasons - we could only speculate. They only have the upper hand because of firearms superiority to the people of far-flung villages and which they just shot randomly. Fortunately to say, they just couldn't grab our sympathies for their claim of ancestral lands which would I assume was the reason behind the attacks. Personally, I respect them as minorities (lumads) but such claim just couldn't be done.

I'm just curious why Marawi City wasn't attack by these marauders. Hopefully, somebody (even the media) can explain this to me.

for me, maybe because it's a muslim area...

during the time i worked in mindanao, marawi is the only city i haven't been with because of the scary stories about what will happen if a christian will enter this city...

the Maranao and Maguindanaon were originally in one tribe called the Iranun. most MILF members are from these tribes. attacking Marawi will mostly like injure their kinsmen and maybe they wish to avoid it.

Nobody knows the plan of these bandits..Even their leaders said "out of control" daw si commander bravo..who knows, this is just a part of their masterplan..the government should not gamble their trust to the MILF anymore..there will be no peace in mindanao, unless wala na ning mga terorista.
