This goes to everybody...
Please don't put yourself in the position that I'll be disliking you as much as I dislike the media covering the incident. As much as possible, don't be carried away with your emotions. Similarly, with your choice of words to describe such a horrible incident. It isn't about Muslims vs Christians. I'm from Iligan and this is not exactly what I heard/read.
May the mighty archangel, St. Michael, protect the city, the neighboring towns, the citizens, and, most especially our dear families with your sword against war and injustices.
Viva Senyor San Miguel!
I pray this will all be over and let peace prosper.
The other day we were having a body massage, our tita from Manila kept on calling to update us on the news that Iligan has been bombed & destruction persisted. She even suggested for us to book flights for Manila para iwas gulo. Even us here sa cdo nga 1 hour away lang, wala mi hanaw... Apil mi nakulbaan kay basing muabot na diri sa amoa.. I just hope na everything will cool down and nga dili na mograbe. Chika pa sa uban nga naa daw nakasulod diri sa amoang city. hope not! I pray for our city & other cities and towns as well... Lets really pray.
When we're at war and our safety is threatened, it's natural to feel uneasy, distracted, depressed or anxious, but the body and mind are connected. Negative emotions play themselves out by causing stress to our body, decreasing our immune system and having a detrimental impact on our heart."
People need to learn to appreciate the basics in life to balance the negatives of war and terrorism. "The sun comes up each morning, the earth is still in one piece, we have friends and family who love us, we have a job that allows us to put food on the table--all the things we take for granted each day but are wonderful when you think about them.
"By consciously appreciating the positives in our life, we can much better cope with the horrors of war. It's a balancing act, and right now, I believe, many people, whether they are for or against the war, are out of balance. This imbalance will continue for as long as the war continues. Each day, we're being bombarded by war and terrorism news. It can be overwhelming like what we have had recently. It's time for Filipinos to take a deep breath, put the issues that cause stress into proper perspective and appreciate their way to a more balanced life. Otherwise, current affairs will soon begin to take another emotional and physical toll."
