    based sa mga details from successful keepers and breeders, mutation rayud daw ang balloon rams.... and they have half the lifespan compared to the normal blue rams... some said nga geneticaly modified daw but i'm not sure about that. Being highly prolific was the main catalyst for their continued existence in the aquarium trade

    @alainphillip
    yeah i think that was the case, and maybe some other factors too, since they were having fin issues similar to fin rots but not quite. I'm still interested on balloon rams and hopefully i can get specimens that would last longer in my tank. lucky for me only one of my flying fox died after the 3 balloon rams died, I'm happy that my bolivian rams and regular blue rams are all fine

    bro good day!

    Bro i have a question, after your ram have died did you check its gills?
    Have their eyes sunken? Have thier body weakened and thin?
    I was wondering if your ram is suffering from gill flukes...

    @Micvince2007

    Actually there are no other symptoms other than the not so typical semi-clamped fins, thier fins are elaborate but some parts of it looks like it melted away. its not even intestinal flagellates since there in good shape, their scales and anal tube are not protruding and yes their gills and eyes are ok. They died as if they are poisoned, because it was so sudden. They were all eating up and even claimed their owm terretories in my tank. As what i obseved, the balloon rams are very much willing to adapt to my tank, but it seemed that they dont have any choice but to die, kung sa binisaya pa, murag naay taning ilang kinabuhi......

    my advice, palit nalang another balloon ram sa store imo gepalitan nya, place them in separate tank and observe how they behave to ur water conditions, make sure ang water imo gamiton same sa imo community tank.

    sorry for the loss

    can u give me info on this?
    1. wen u found ur rams dead, did their bodies start to decompose already?
    2. wen did ur other fishes start to die? after finding out ur dead ballon rams?
    3. did u check pH of ur water? whats ur pH? are u using tap water or deepwell water?

    *if ur other fishes started to die after days that ur balloon rams are dead... maybe levels of ammonia and nitrites are very high due to decomposing dead fish...
    *if ur pH level is high above 8, this would increase the stress levels of the fish since balloon rams are mutations they are more fragile nd are very sensitive to water parameters.. check pH, ammonia, nitrite levels
    *possibly there was something wrong with the water before u introduced the rams.. when the rams died, it aggravated the problem causing other fishes to die...

    at piper's petshop, i had problems when some balloon rams started to develop cloudy eyes... it was hard to detect any prob at first because all displayed brilliant colors.. and were also aggressive...

    @alainphillip
    Here are the details:
    *The balloon rams died a day or 2 after it was purchased.
    *None of the existing inhabitants have had health issues prior to the introduction of the balloon rams.
    *The other inhabitants started to waste away after the balloon rams have died, of course the balloon rams have decomposed when it was retrieved just like any organic matter does.
    *Cebu's tap water normally has a PH of 7, the tank water has a PH of below 7
    *Partial water changes was made prior to the intoduction of the balloon rams, and of course the balloon rams were conditioned before its was introduced, the transport water was discarded.
    *Medications were even applied after the balloon rams showed signs of being ill.
    *After the balloon rams have died we administer the proper medications for those that remained.
    *All of the shrimps are still alive, so the water quality is at its best.

    mine was infected 3 days after i bought the "balloon ram/b.ram" ..the symptoms were loss of apettite( i mean they were not able to eat since a purchased it .. ahahaha maybe they were shy? wkekek), hidding at back portion of my tank.. hiding among the rocks.. that's why when the b.ram died, i was not able to remove them .. almost 14 hrs ...
    caught them because some of my albino corys was having fun among the plants...it was the b.ram that they were kissing with ... but the b.ram was not totally disintegrated ha?!! ..of course i removed it after the fun... fews days after... maybe 3 or 4.. 2 of my albino corys died as well ... and 2 of my kuhli loach ..they showed several fungal thingiee behind their eyes..and some at the dorsal fins. my prime suspect in this case is "internal bacteria infection" or "KAGID" sa sulod sa ilang lawas *rofl* ... mao gyud kai mu KIRIG lang ug kalit.. ahaha.. can't blame the water quality ha?..because in my planted tank, i always do 20% water change every 2-3 days .. rarely 4. and the confusing thing is buhi pa akong Special Cared Healthy Super Gaan sa Bulsa MANALILI GHOST BUSTER SHRIMPS and neon tetras!!! yaho000oo
    --and finally ... dli lang Urgent ha.. EMERGENCY gyud. Im in the "curing mode".. using the COMBO technique .. Melafix (anti-bacterial) and Pimafix (anti-fungal). Hopefully they will last... and here's the real technique.. perform a little prayer... " Lord dili na unta ku mamatyan ug isda ha please??thnx" -end

The disease is nothing that me and my friends can explain, it is neither fungal nor bacterial, its not even protozoal and its not even organic poisoning...!? We have done everything that we can think of but still the fish are dying, all of this happened after the balloon ram entered the tank!?
