    guys,

can you pls post what version of wine are you using and unsa nga linux distro?
i've read online articles then old version man ang references. im using wine nga available of may & sept 2005. old 2004 & lower versions nga wine kay different config. i've tested with redhat9, fedora4 and lispire pero palpak jud ang games. maka run hinoon ko ug ms solitaire. i've launched msaccess too! how great is that!

is mepis free? is it ideal for client-server environment like debian and fedora? or it's just like linspire - good for desktop...i've read that it functions like a live cd. does it mean it's like knoppix only?

if mepis is for desktop, does it follow that i should install debian/fedora4/bsd instead because they're more stable & secure for client-server apps?

i liked linspire but it's not free. is ubunto or gentoo behaves/works like lispire.

i would appreiciate your reply and hopefully it will give others a better view on w/c distro to use para dili na bitaw ta cg test. kapoy download, burn & install then re install...mura nko vampire.hehe

also, why is it that network share (samba and the like) is easy with linspire and difficult to configure with redhat9 and fedora4. nag lisod jud ko mo access sa akong winxp pro nga shared folders. ang gnome ug kde kay lahi pa jud. makita nako share sa gnome but dili when kde.but bati man gnome.sori sa gnome users ha. pls help.

    thanks a lot!

    Peace!

    Melodyman,

Wine 2005-0211 is one of the best wine versions that work with older wine configuration tools like winetools. I heard also it runs Gunbound (no gameguard) quite fine.

One of the best I've seen that works even with Installshield based apps is 20050725. I prefer you don't use the latest version (sept), as it has theming bugs and have some regressions in the code.

To access shared folders in kde, open up konqueror and type smb:/

Ubuntu is gnome based. Gnome is much like OSX... If you are used to windows interfaces, use kde.

    God bless.

another thing is ... when accessing to a windows share folder its much better to use an ip address rather than a hostname but it can be solve when u fill up the resolve.conf

Guys, while waiting for those online games to run in Linux, why not check out these games?

http://www.planeshift.it - a 3D MMORPG available in Linux, Windows or OSX - opensource. I've tried this one to see if it works, the world is quite HUGE.
http://vegastrike.sourceforge.net/ - A 3D Space Simulator that allows you to trade and bounty hunt in a vast universe. Now with preliminary network gaming support! - Linux, and Windows and OSX
http://www.scorched3d.co.uk/ - a 3D rendition of the popular DOS game scorched earth. Much like a gunbound derivative, although scorched earth is the original one!
http://wouter.fov120.com/cube/ - fps game, multiplayer, or single play. - Linux, Windows and Mac

    God bless.

Mandriva hands down. Among sa mga gi-test nako, ang mandriva had the least hicups when it came to hardware issues. Also, newbie friendly ang installation with enough customization for expert users. But then I used the Club Edition...

Try NFS, less hassle than Samba.
